For the '76 Bonnie, arrived today: New clutch cable to replace the broken one...limped home, using it only at intersections until it snapped altogether one mile from home. New shift rubber since the old one is chewed to bits and liable to fly off. Planning to install tomorrow.

Just gave the bike a wash and was surprised to see ice forming on the seat in the time it took to walk up the garden and get a drying cloth:eek:
Quickly dried her off put the cover back on and dashed back inside - too bloody cold :cool:

Nice ride over the hill to test Mrs Dartplayer’s new pillion  Lamingtons were so good I missed a pic, so had to take them in the cabinet:laughing:

Love it! Had to Google lamingtons. They look delightful but most of all I love the idea of a nice two-up ride shared (since I nearly always ride my own, handsome husband sometimes misses our two-ups).

One of my annual traditions has become to ride on New Year's Eve to bid adieu to the outgoing year and to ride on New Year's Day to ring in the new year. Yesterday I rode my Low Rider S solo then today Mr. Sandi and I rode together with me on my Speed Triple RS. The weather yesterday was a bit blustery and cloudy but today was a crisp 58ºF with sunny, brilliantly blue skies. We rode north up to and through a "masterplanned community" called Saddlebrooke then back to AJ's for a latte on the outdoor patio. It was a great way to start off 2021! :):sun:

Much of Saddlebrooke is built around a golf course. It's one of those "55+" communities with the usual amenities, golf facilities being primary among them. Here's Speedy in one of the smaller golf access parking lots. I had to dodge several golf balls rolling across the parking lot from errant putts to park in this spot.

Looking the other direction from the putting green, here's Mr. Sandi on his Street Glide with the Catalina Mountains in the background.

After leaving Saddlebrooke and heading back south to Tucson proper, we stopped at AJ's for a latte at Mr. Sandi's suggestion. AJ's is an upscale grocery store with a great bakery. We love their outdoor patio that has a large fireplace. This spot is particularly appealing in the Age of COVID. Another nice thing about AJ's is that they have "Motorcycle Only" parking---a nice touch. :)

Here's Mr. Sandi relaxing in the sun with his coffee. You can just make out our bikes in the background.
    IMG_1844.jpeg

Today we had the only bikes in the MC Only parking area. That's fairly typical here actually.

There was a sweet boxer with her owner a couple of tables away from us. Seeing that dog really drove home how much we miss Annie and how strange it feels to be boxer-less. One of these days....

That's hilarious, Stephen! :joy: I think boxers like to think they're lap dogs, too! ;) I've had five boxers and all five would have relished the opportunity to jump up into my lap (preferably on the couch) if I'd allowed it. As it is, to stave that off having 60-70 pound boxers on our laps or on the couch, we've amassed quite the collection of very nice dog beds over the years on which they could curl up in instead. :)

Washed the bike today as I didn't do it after last ride. Consequently the wheels were showing signs of corrosion so I used the dremel with little polishing wheels to make amends. Other than the wheels the rest was all good Phew. I really envy those of you a with a garage/workshop and b a bike lift to save crawling around on the floor.

Short ride out today in the short window of favorable weather. Been raining, too cold, busy, working, family-ing, or otherwise jammed up, so today's sunny 52 degrees respite was welcome.

Only the third ride since bringing home the Bonnie so still trying to keep under 4k revs:confused:. Good gracious, it makes me feel like my mother is hanging over me all the time telling me to slow down: unamused:. Still was a nice ride out to a favored spot, one of the few remaining covered bridges in Georgia which also happens to be the longest at 229 feet.
    20210103_151112.jpg

20210103_152133.jpg Also was the first ride since fitting the helmets with intercoms that were Christmas gifts. Super convenient to be able to communicate so easily but didn't want to get too chatty because "shared solitude" is one of the pleasures of the ride.

Last night we'd watched a movie about the Isle of Man TT so today around some of the curves coming home I was thinking about the TT. Then handsome husband interrupted my thoughts with notice that I'd just missed a turn:relieved:. So the intercom came in handy. And that's what happens when my mind goes to wondering what it's like to ride in the TTo_O.

The chill made us think about how heated grips would be. Even with cold hands it was a nice ride and I was happy to inch closer to breaking in the bike. Ride safe.
