I’m confused Ron... does DD know you’re posting this? Does he want you to post this? As the biggest contributor to the forum with a wicked sense of humour, I miss a shitload of his posts, insights and his genuine helpfulness that he’s offered to loads of folk on this forum. But I was pretty convinced he didn’t want to change his abrasive side for anyone. I had the impression that he had set out his stall in a specific fashion and those who didn’t appreciate his ability to dissect an argument whilst maintaining the baser sentiments of name calling and insults, well they could just fuck off! (I notice a few are moving into that type of game on another thread here)
Reading the interactions from the sidelines from the time preceding his banning, he was provoking unrest and kicking against the walls of restrictions that the forum and its revision was undergoing, from my perception of events... he wanted to see how far he could push it... but that, to me, isn’t in the spirit of the forum. I’m all for spirited arguments, but the relentless pushing against the order trying to be brought to the forum was deliberately disruptive. The forum has changed... has needed to probably, @Havit could confirm that... but DD doesn’t want to change... I don’t want to change, but the difference between DD and myself is that he will stick to his principles where I’ll bend a bit to keep the peace.
So my confusion is... does DD actually want to come back to the forum, now that it has tighter rules..? Are you posting this as a benevolent gesture on his behalf to get him reinstated (If it ever gets put to the vote, I’ll support his return) or is this forum not where he would like to be, due to a tightening of the boundaries and a softening of the conversations?

In the Christmas spirit of forgiveness and New Years bringing in new opportunities... I’d love to see all three sides of this mess reconcile and knock the various chips off their shoulders and bring the forum back to a similar level of camaraderie that we enjoyed 4 or 5 years ago. I think it’d be great to have DD back... but I suspect he would actually have to want to come back, knowing full well the rules and limitations of the forum as it is now made? Is that what he would like Ron? Is that what you would like? But here’s the rub, that’s not down to anyone other than Rob and Havit and their perception of how DD’s “behaviour” is likely to pan out.
