When we entered the EU or "Common Market" as it was known in the early '70's it was all about trade but it all got out of hand over the years with the suits from Brussells sticking their awe in other areas of British life telling us we must do this and we can't do that. What we want is another trade deal, that's it. A no deal will be a double edged sword, benefitting fishing quotas, for instance, by giving us automatic rights to fish our own territorial waters as we wish but countered by huge tariffs and red tape selling catches to EU countries. My personal opinion is that the nuts and bolts of a deal are in and what we're seeing now is just titivating what's already being agreed, whatever that is.

 

The problem is in brussel...to many cooks making a bad meal and so I can understand why Uk wants to move. But... I believe...the economy here and in UK will get a kick in the arse..many jobs will be lost..many things will be more expensive for us here and for you. Also the free travel will end....yuck!
I can't understand all problems. British fish ist british fish...point. To make a new border in Northen Ireland is big shit...maybe the old confessional problem will get reincarnation.
My great wish is...the governments can solve the problem in the next days and if not.... my view for the future is black!

 

There already IS a border in Ireland. We don’t police it and nor does the Irish Republic. It is little different to the border between Nord Rhein Westfalen and Nider Sachsen and about as visible. The ‘problem’ is for the EU but they want to force a hard border internal to the UK in the Irish Sea - more for political leverage than the benefit of residents of the island of Ireland.

Fishing? The EU has enjoyed our fishing grounds rent free for 40 yrs but we are being unreasonable repossessing our property? The value matters far less than the principle and Brussels has been consistently disrespectful egged on by France for domestic politics - but Germany knows all about that too!

 

Don't worry the French will copitulate as usual

Anyone else think all the noise in the media at the moment about COVID and Christmas is a smoke screen for Boris to drop his knickers and agree a deal which falls short of what he promised?
