    Hello :)

Freshly arrived on the forum, i was wondering if somebody could give me some advices about an insurance issue. I'm sorry if my english is not perfect, i'm french

Last year, I have insured a car in UK for the first time and it has been a very easy process. I have sent the documents from my french insurance (4 year licence with no claim) to my new UK insurance and everything was fine.
This year, I'm trying to insure a motorbike, and i my new insurance (not the same company) is giving me hard time (I have my licence since december 2008, no claim)

When I have submitted my document (no claim and copy of the licence) they have refused both.
They couldn't read the document because it was french documents. I told them I was surprised because i had selected on the application form "EU Licence" and their policy was mentionning EU customers too.
After a week of talk, my licence is now accepted. But my no claim is not.

If i don't provide the document from my french insurance (in English), they will cancel my contract in 2-3days.
I have contacted my french insurance and the process will take at least 15 days...
So I have offered the following:

    1) To give them the login of my french account. It's one of the biggest insurance in france, i don't mind if they want to check my existing contract by themself
    2) On top of the document, I have given them a screenshot of the exact text translated in english via google translate.

They have told me google translate is not accepted by their service but i could pay a professional translator to translate the doc and then they will do their best. They couldn't recommend a translation company.

So today I have 2 options:
    1) I can pay a translation company but if they don't approve it i could loose my insurance (could be difficult to find an insurance after that)
    2) I can pay for the full year, and i can cancell my contract. I will have lost some money but at least i will be a lot easier to find an insurance.

    Any advice?

Roms, to be honest in England everybody has trouble with insurance companies even us English. Insurance companies are more dictators than our horrible members of parliament! Start you insurance off with zero no claims because it's just easier some times. I have lots of bikes and some started with zero no claims bonuses because it's simpler and also bike insurance seem to be far cheaper than car insurance these days.

@Tigcraft , Same problem in France, applying for an insurance could be very difficult even if never had any claim. thebiglad has offered his service for translation, hopefully the insurance will accept his translation. I will know more tomorrow.

@thebiglad Thanks you so much for your help, if it's working it will be a big relief for me :)

    @thebiglad

They have not approved the documents yet, but they are giving me 10 more days insurance to review the docs.
Even if they are not accepting them, you have given me time to discuss with them or to organize a plan b.

    Thank you so much :)
