Apparently the count following ‘a certain, recent election’ is incomplete, uncertified and cannot yet be forwarded to the Electoral College to determine the eventual winner. It looks certain to be decided in the Courts on the basis of permissible votes and may involve State legislatures too because that is the constitutional path in an inherently political process. Then the Supreme Court in its constitutional capacity.

I find the procedural side probably more interesting than the political because all the checks and balances in the US system inhibit any one part - President, Senate, Congress - from running amok.

So, this is the place for respectful observations on the upcoming dance that will beat anything Strictly could choreograph this side of Christmas . It is increasingly less about who wins rather than who loses.....and the whole nature of loyalty and to whom or what.

    Any Stateside observations?

OK I think it went like this.....

What went wrong last time? Hilary was supposed to win. Did you see the shock on her face? Well we weren’t ready for so many Deplorables. Right, won’t make that mistake again......Nope. We just need those swing States.......

On the night. Agent Orange has done it again! Stop the count, manufacture more ballot papers. They weren’t supposed to vote for him! Adjust the totals. Do you think anyone will notice? After CNN, MSNBC, even Fox will anyone even believe it? No, keep up the narrative he’ll back down.

    He won’t?!

(So it’s really about process integrity far more than personality. What happened and what do/will people believe happened? Trump didn’t ‘stop the count’. It seems once the ‘awkward’ counts were inexplicably paused he said ‘No more counting....’ not quite the same thing.)

The prediction polls and the news media, have been playing up the Biden win for months to manipulate public expectation prior to voting, in order to discourage Trump voters, sway brainless idiots who just want to vote for the winner, and also to camouflage the cheat... who will notice if we say Biden is so far ahead... Then the news media, with no authority, assume the fake responsibility of declaring Biden to be the winner, way before the process is anywhere near complete, again to manipulate public perception and to attempt to force Trump to concede.

Then you have the multiple voting/counting irregularities and alleged frauds, the whole thing is a shit show, and should be very worrying for anyone regardless of which side you support. It is an embarrassment, a threat, and an assult on democracy and freedom.

    You may be waiting forever...

    https://www.cisa.gov/news/2020/11/1...ture-government-coordinating-council-election

“There is no evidence that any voting system deleted or lost votes, changed votes, or was in any way compromised.

“Other security measures like pre-election testing, state certification of voting equipment, and the U.S. Election Assistance Commission’s (EAC) certification of voting equipment help to build additional confidence in the voting systems used in 2020.

“While we know there are many unfounded claims and opportunities for misinformation about the process of our elections, we can assure you we have the utmost confidence in the security and integrity of our elections, and you should too. When you have questions, turn to elections officials as trusted voices as they administer elections.”

    Right on time!

Except...... they would say that wouldn’t they? You can not tell the entire population the whole vote was a crock. Moreover the relationship of Comey and others to the present administration does not invite confidence in any FBI investigation of particular States/Counties. Who to trust? The DoJ is rumbling into gear but I think the next 10 days will be pretty instructive.

Nietzsche said ‘I am not upset you lied to me, I’m upset that from now on I can’t believe you’
There is so much riding on the outcome of reviews of the allegations by the Judiciary that they cannot be ignored and have to be investigated
But what happens if/when they find nothing? Will Trump quietly accept the findings? Or if they do find something will Biden accept the outcome?

It is notoriously difficult to prove a negative, so I suspect this will rumble on for years whilst constantly undermining the trust we all have to put into the ‘Stat’ to have a functioning society.... until none of us believe a word anyone says!

The other angle is that there is no need to establish ballot stuffing where States have themselves not complied with Federal law in the conduct of the vote itself..... signature checking, secrecy envelopes, date certification etc.
That’s before you pull apart machine coding, metadata, logs etc.
Field day for the lawyers and data geeks!

It’s a bit like an Employment Tribunal considering unfair dismissal. If the employer didn’t follow their own procedures it’s case over before you start.

    Who cares about that?!

A much more important question is whether @Dozers Dad and @Callumity will accept them? Or will it give them a pet hobby horse forever?

It is quite amusing the extent of the beliefs both that electoral fraud was widespread and that it was entirely the Democrats that did it.

Might there be miscounts? Of course, there always are. Are they likely to affect the overall result? Very unlikely indeed.

Might there be the odd successful technical challenge, eg over late postal votes. Probably. Will it/they materially affect the overall result? Unlikely.

Might there be systemic, one-sided manipulation? Extremely unlikely indeed.

The conspiracy theories on nutjob websites and social media, exaggerated and blown up by Trump himself, are incredible.

Here’s a typical example of nutjobs in action....

At least I had a vested interest in the Brexit thread, that went round and round and round and round and ......... I got bored with that eventually, but this, this is going round and round and round and round and ....... already and I was bored with this ages ago. In the other thread, I voted for a Trump win, if I could change my vote, I would definitely change it to "couldn't give a flying fook".

If there was some fraud at work it's likely not a new thing. The Dems got it to work in their favour this time and the Reps suffered. In response to the Reps getting it to work in their favour last time and the Dems sharpening their game. There is absolutely no moral high ground to be had by either party.
