So hubby and I have decided to have a go at restoring a bike Neither of us has done anything like it before. This could end in divorce Its a KTM 250 MXC, 1985. Little two stroke, not in too bad condition. So not a wreck but still lots to do on it.
Nice “little” two stroke, you’ll probably think of it as such right up until you crack the throttle open in second , at which point you’ll almost certainly replace the word “nice” with a stream of expletives! , looks good, look forward to seeing it post resto.
What a great project for you and hubby, @Streetgirl675! I'm looking forward to hearing about your restoration "adventures" and seeing photos of your progress. And I'll keep my fingers crossed that the "D" word doesn't come up--or at least come up often.
Those things are pretty mental! Mate had one and it kept spitting him out the back all of the time. Only time it didn’t is when he went through a wooden fence on it and the fence post went through his foot. Happy times! Ps, he sold it for a “tamer” (!!!!!) cr250 (86) and then joined the paras. Looking back, para regiment was probably safer....
Loads of fun to be had there, and the beauty of 2 strokes is they are easy to work on, tip - save a head gasket by removing the barrel with the head still on if just changing rings. Prepare to eat dirt, MX bikes bite, but are superb for improving riding skills, enjoy getting down & dirty!
YooooHoooo! Ducky! Is that why you spent so much time searching the internet for scantily clad females with guns or bikes, to promote feminism?
Getting dirty like this? Although that is a CRF250, so not anything like a crazy two stroke mx bike Or eating dirt like this?
A 2 smoke dirt bike, an ideal project to cut your restoration teeth on. Simple engine and running gear, minimal electrics and a whole heap of fun to be had when it's done! Just the ticket to upset the anti pollution NIMBY's.
*just* before I got my Z1000 I nearly dropped dollar on a street legal KX500. That it's knocking big ends making me walk away likely saved my life. I'd had tankslappers on a jota at (dunno how fast, wasn't checking the speedo) and had owned a few Gixxers but the test ride was 'challenging'. Crossers are for the certifiable. Esp strokers.
