Hi @Simon Logan (and thanks to @capt )

Sorry I missed this yesterday. YES, please let me have any details about original cans for the Tiger - as long as it's a Steamer, of course!

I appreciate the heads up - hope it brings something useful!

    Cheers, guys.

Nasty brown gunge seeping out of the bottom of the carbs so out they come.

Anyone seen these wear patterns on the needles before ?Should I replace them ? If I do replace the needles does that mean I have to replace anything else ? I don't want to change the needles and then find out I should have changed a related part.....

How many miles / kilometres has your machine done ? Looks like staining , can you feel any step or ridge at the borders of the stains ?
My 94 trident had similar stains visible after only ten thousand kilometres. It ran fine until I sold it . Did 161,000 !

Hi, 34k miles. and yes I can feel a ridge at the boundary. So, do I need to replace the needles ..and should the emulsion tubes be changed as well ? Also, try as I might I cannot split the carbs because the screws holding the rails on will not come out. Tried heat, tried impact driver. What next, weld a bolt to each screw ?

    Hi @Simon Logan .
Yes change the needles if you want that new bike feeling.
Alternatively just clean up and adjust . Save new for later in the bikes life.
The screws just need perseverance and penetrating lube application.

Should I change the emulsion tubes if I change the worn needles ?

The screws !!! Penetrating oil didnt work. Took all afternoon but drilled out and removed all the screws with an extractor.

Do you know what the mixture screws should be set to. They were 1 3/4 turns each but I'm sure I read somewhere they should be 2 1/2 ??

If you are changing the needles , then change the tubes/jets
The flanges on the pistons / slides you show in the above 3 pictures look good , they wear out and so do the guides in the upper body's of the carburettor. They are replaceable I believe.
They new owner of my high mileage Trident had to replace them @ 200,000 odd :);) you have aways to go there ;);)

Turning the Steamer into a skidoo!
Both wheels off without a centrestand needs a bit of thinking about to be safe....
