Can anyone identify this? It was tucked under the fairing on my daytona 650, has a live and negative wire both going to battary (negative not attached, I've disconnected both now). Theres no other wires and no branding. Thoughts are, some sort of trickle charger connector to save taking seat off maybe?
IF I clean up the terminals do I just need to buy the unit or is it just worth pulling it out and buying a new one? I do need a trickle charge for over winter as I won't be using the bike much
Chubzilla You answered your own question. Personally I would buy all new myself. But everyone is different. But if you are buying a tickle charger you will probably get leads with it. Don't forget even whilst on tickle charge every so often do unplug it and run the bike for a few minutes. Joe.
♂️ I was trying to think of everything it could be before posting, I fount where to plug computer so ruled it out, heated grips are working so nope on that aswell and charger was the only thing I could think of so a correct semi educated guess. Yea new is probably best. Thanks again lads
That's the old style connection and Optimate don't sell their new units with that connector now, so buying a new one with the new connector is best really.
Thanks for that, I think its a must over winter so I'll grab a new system, we'll after I've gone through connections and hopefully sorted charging issue. is there anywhere best to buy from?
From my memories of my Daytona 600 I would definitely trickle charge it over winter. As I think you have already made your mind up, get a new unit. Much more efficient and "smart" than they used to be. Sportsbikeshop is one of the best places I find for gear. Great returns policy
Forgot to ask, which is the best one to get, don't need super smart features, just want to plug it in and let it do its thing and unplug. Oxford oximiser look reasonably priced, or are the optimate 3 worth the extra?
Beat you to it, just ordered that exact one Thanks for the link, I really appreciate all the help I can get. It can be used on car batteries aswell! .
They're back up is pretty good, I sent a 3 year old Optimate 3 back to them for repair a while back, they said it wasn't worth repairing and sent me a new one instead....
