A link sent to me by a friend in the US :-

    https://www.warhistoryonline.com/news/mosquito-4.html

Even warbirds occasionally come up as 'barn finds'! Positively 'awesome'.

Interesting article also, if you scroll down concerning the sinking of a number of French navy vessels in July 1940 - an action not very well publicised then or now.

Thanks for sharing that link very interesting about the aircraft, as per the French Navy it is known and it would have been a decision to stop the ships falling into German hands or even used against us by the French, we forget that a large portion of France was Vichy and sided with the Germans ,there are lots of accounts of fighting between us and Vichy forces and also other forces from other european countries

Can you imagine restoring one of those engines and putting it in a truck or a muscle car?

An awesome tribute but for an awful reason. This is Washington DC memorial to those that have died of Covid in the USA. Its looks bad enough and all the chairs dont fit into the image, however each chair represents 10 people.:worried::worried:

Wow! Just think what it would look like to honor car crash victims, folks who have died from heart disease, diabetes, or cancer -unimaginable.

Well, I will probably get hammered, but here goes: Image of 3500 crosses signifying the average number of abortions done each day in USA.

It isn't abortion. It's murder. There, I said it. My opinion. This is a forum.

That's good ........but these are better, faster and more manoeuverable .....

    https://media.newzealand.com/en/story-ideas/shotover-jet-riding-new-zealands-red-boats/

Twin Mercruiser V8s; 46 knots and, even with a full payload, will operate in 10cms depth of water.

An experience never to be forgotten!

p.s., I gather they may be converting them to electric propulsion. Pity - it will certainly lose some of the "aural sex" appeal! :D

A good article, and a brave man that should be celebrated. However I find the fact that there are black poppies annoying and disapointing. Red poppies commemorate ALL who have served regardless of race, religion or skin colour. Black poppies are just commemorating one single ethnic group over all others, how divisive is that? Afterall, there have been far more Indians and Brits of Indian desent that have fought and died for the UK, and what about the Nepalise Gurkhas. All should be remembered and commemorated, and I thought that was what the RED poppy did. The poppy appeal is positively awesome, but bringing identity politics in to it is most certainly not!

Sorry for the rant in this thread, I'll get me coat :), you carry on ;)

The red Poppy was chosen because it symbolised the blood spilt on Flanders fields, where the red Poppy’s were seen growing after the war.
I can’t think of a more unifying symbol, everyone’s blood is the same colour
Other colour Poppy’s are for knobjockies
