Rode the Thruxton into north Shropshire for a run around. It was lonely at the Raven cafe which is unusual
Apparently the Wehrmacht figured the MG34 could be used for close anti-aircraft support. Given the high rate of fire, it could do some damage to planes close by.
Spotter Alert! Let’s be clear, it’s the bullet that does the damage - whether 30-06, .303 British or 7.92x57 Mauser (all pretty much identical ballistic performance) NOT the weapon that fires it. Sure the MG34/42 has a high rate of fire which increases your chances (a bit) but you still need to be within 1,000 yds as performance drops off fast. However, my real point was about Duck’s mount which is for firing on fixed lines in the ground role. You could neither elevate nor track with the speed needed to engage aircraft. Your illustration IS of an AA mount.
Let’s be doubly clear here, it’s not the bullet or the gun that does the damage but the person, who just so happens to get it on mail order without any background checks
You can always scratch a AA sight into your visor and go "pew pew pew" all day!? Far cheaper too!!!!! And, possibly more accurate !!
Try one of these mounted to your headlight Shipping may seem a bit steep but I think it’s a bargain for a Rocket Launcher
What have I been doing with my Triumph today? Well, I was planning to ride it! But my bike evidently had other ideas. After a 465 mile overnighter with Mr. Sandi on my Street Glide Friday and yesterday, I was looking forward to zipping about on my smaller and lighter Speed Triple with our Sunday ride group today. I had my helmet and gloves on and my bike wiped down and backed into the driveway with Mr. Sandi ready to hit the road on his bike. Click, click. I got nuthin'. Actually, on the first try it sounded like it would start but after that, dead as a door nail. I was not a happy camper to say the least. No warning of anything amiss on previous rides. I’m assuming and hoping it’s just the battery. I’m also hoping the battery is included in my warranty because I’m still within my two year warranty period by about a month. So anyway, I did a quick swap out of boots and hopped on my Harley which fired right up...very reliably. I’m thinking this is one more sign that I need to get a third motorcycle again.
today i've been looking at the bike thinking...it's feckin freezing out there.....and that i need to wash it...and need to replace the oil in the front forks - and might as well upgrade the springs while i'm at it.....then take another sip of coffee and think...na feck it
probably worth getting a spare rear sub frame off Ebay - just in case you change your mind and while they are still plentiful... they go for peanuts anyway well done on attempting the welding - i cant weld for shit 8(
Well, I checked my warranty this morning. Rats! The battery is only under warranty for 12 months, not 24 months like my Harleys have been. Oh well, at least it's (hopefully) only the battery that's at issue. Unlike @Duckadiledundee and the myriad "issues" he seems to have with his steed.
Love it! I would have gone silver glitter flake on the paint however for that 1973 vibe. That's me however.
More photos, please, when you start riding that cool custom!! P.S. What's the deal with that rear wheel vs. the spoked front wheel??
I looked at mine in the garage and thought "Hmm well that's dirty and I need new tyres". Not surprising after going to Scotland last week and totting up about 1600 miles in all through rain, wind and some sun. My son came with me on his non Triumph - a Honda CB500X. What a great little A2 bike! He had a little spill (a 50mph low side) on our second day but fortunately not much damage - it amounted to a new foot peg, scuffed bar end and a holed pannier. So he only missed one day's riding and wants to go back again! He just needs to check his tyre pressures which is why it let go. But a brilliant week!
take your welder round and really teach that battery a lesson it wont forget.... 8) bloody horrible out there, wet and cold today so the bike washing and the fork maintenance has been put on hold yet again....not like me at all...my advancing years must be telling 8( .... don't feel like writing either fish tank maintenance and video making for me today then........bloody winter
You’ve clearly looked after your bike and still have a duff battery. So, I’m going to get a new one (original) as this fault seems to bite people in the arse (ass ) with alarming regularity! Ps, very sorry for your loss of pooch. I have a springer spaniel who we love dearly and although we have yet to feel that loss, we know (a little bit) how you must feel. Mr Sandi too obviously.
