It is not just the young or the old it is all. I went to one of my local bike meeting places on Sunday morning and had the same experience regarding social distancing and the wearing of face mask. For feck sake most if not all bikers wear a neck warmer than can be used as a face covering, it isn’t that hard is it
The stigma caused by anti-social behaviour is just not there anymore. And who tells the young how to behave? Certainly not a lot of the parents cos they don't know themselves. Consideration for other people just does not figure highly, so you get things like spitting in public popularized by coverage of football matches on TV (once an anathema due to the spread of TB, hepatitis, viral meningitis, herpes type virus, colds and flu). Another example is being unnecessarily loud when, for example, other people are trying to sleep - example, taxis drivers leaving their engines running whilst dropping off or waiting for their fares late at night. Parking dangerously on corners. Parents entitled children allowed to run around in restaurants as if the restaurant is a play park. Car drivers lazily swapping lanes whilst navigating roundabouts because 'that's where I want to go' irrespective of any danger they cause to other road users. Electric scooters left piled up on the pavements causing danger to the elderly, visually handicapped and causing a general trip hazzard. Electric scooters being used on pavements by underaged people with no license - contrary to the regulations. You can go on and on. If a behavioural code is not imbued by the parents nor by the school nor by the church then there is no behavioural code. And that, it seems to me, is where we are moving to.
People have always been ‘me & mine’ and we oldies were probably born into a golden age of civility that has faded fast. Consumerism and selfie culture has fed increasing self regard. However, the Covid ‘rules’ are also a victim of public scepticism given a total lack of leadership, strategy and an apparent gap between the official narrative and observed reality. Having put the wind up people the initial fright has mostly worn off.....apart from the bizarre lockdown fascists calling in daily.
I think there’s more to it than the leadership issue (I’m not convinced there is a viable opposition yet) but the sensationalist media outlets, grinding their own personal axes who whip up each side.., plus really complex variables being shoehorned into simple statistical graphs etc.
For me a rock and hard place comes to mind. If people followed the rules we would not see the virus running out of control again.
Seen on another site. I’m just a thick pub landlord who’s been involved in this game for over 40years...This is an open “rant” to the “absolute tit” of a leader of Newcastle council who fancied a quick power grab & an even “absolute bigger tit” of a leader of our great country. Close your eyes and think of this I could get on a bus and travel into Newcastle ( no track & trace) exit the bus and walk through the toon.. call into my banks.. TSB.. Barclays.. RBS.. ooh and Santander..( no track & trace) mmm I’m hungry...ooh I’ll call into greggs and get a stottie.. ( no track & trace).. return to the bus stop and make my way home... ( no track & trace) Get off the bus & go shopping at ...Tesco’s, Morrison’s, Aldi, Asda etc ( no track & trace) have my tea... mm fancy a pint in the local...wait I need to call into the local shop...( no track & trace)... oooh at last a nice pint in my local... oops wait... need a mask & sign in to the track & trace or scan the QR code... peace at last... 2 days later I’ve tested positive for COVID... shut the pub, pay for a deep clean & everyone in the pub self isolate. Is it just me...?????
Seems to me pubs aint the problem they should close the take aways an hour before the pubs shut. We would all just go home instead of crowding in for a takeaway.
Well that’s thrown the cat amongst the pigeons https://www.bbc.co.uk/news Donald and Melanie Trump test positive for Covid 19
You're absolutely right, Thripster, is isn't at all earth shattering. As you said, anybody can catch it. But Trump is the President of the United States and our presidential election is 33 days away--just to add to all the chaos. It's also ironic that Trump has now finally tested positive this close to the election. considering his own behavior related to masks, distancing, congregating in groups. So much for Presidential Debate #2. But then that is probably a good thing. Not only is Trump and Melania testing positive not earth shattering, but it's not even surprising that Trump has COVID. I figured he'd have contracted it long before this. And Trump has at least one preexisting condition which makes him significantly more likely to die from COVID.
and to think... one time.. many many years ago Corona was just a fizzy soft drink delivered by Lorry...... happier days
Ah good days indeed folks, the old Corona trucks, what with that and Cresta pop I was well fizzed Cresta Bear "It's frothy Man" ace, mind you we kids had our fair share of calcium from the Unigate milkman we Humphried on the way to school
Yeah, but I'll bet Biden would have washed his hands and remembered to not touch his face after a handshake with Trump!
No theft occurred. You did however ‘obtain a pecuniary advantage by deception’ - a prosecutable offence in its own right.
