I will be better prepared next year! I did raise a bit of funds at least. Any idea when the tens to send out some of the goodies? I should have some patches and pins coming. Will add them to my regular riding jacket.
I think I got my stickers and pin a few weeks after the ride date if I remember correctly, OsteKuste. I also got an additional cool patch and letter the first year I did it because I was the high fund raiser for the Tucson ride! The promotor and I got into a good natured competition--we even donated to each other--and we wound up raising as much between the two of us as the rest of the riders combined. I beat him out for the #1 spot by a nose. The following year--2019-- people were ready to rumble and the total number of funds raised in Tucson was about three or four times higher than in 2018.
Nah , Chloe is much better Off than that.... She follows her Grandmother and her Aunt's side of the family. It was Pissing down by the time I set off on My Bike to do my bit and carry Her to the Site where they took their Vows. I pulled up at the agreed pick up point and Chloe got settled side saddle on the bike. I've never felt my Bike Shaking So much , she was Soon cold in the rain. They Top picture I posted with Fat Drunken Fingers during the reception is of the Three generations of wives , well Chloe's the newest obviously. Her Mother is in the White suit... My good lady is in blue on the right and her Aunt's are either side. I was Saturated !!! So I'd changed into full casual wear , but kept the Tie on ..... Do you like it?? I received it as a Father's Day Present. Chloe's Mother Tammy found it and bought it. When Chloe heard I had it I had to wear it with the suit...
Lost is a state of mind. Did my fair share of hikes along country lanes and walking paths that degenerated in to open pasture. Once, had a entire herd of livestock follow me from one fence to the other, about a mile away.
Caught a nail in the rear tire - no blow out, held air. Was lucky to find the last Pirelli Angel GT 150/70-17 69W on the planet. Got'er mounted in 1-day and I installed it up today. What a pain in the arse especially when there has been a good run of weather. Tubes suck, but the KineoAlpina wheels just dont look right imo. I wish there was an easy tubeless option for stock spoke wheels, and not DIY Outex tape conversion.
Went out this afternoon for a short solo ride on my Speed Triple and hit my two local dealerships to look at bikes and say hi to the guys. Good therapy. First stop - Arizona Kawasaki--KTM--Triumph. Mr. Sandi and I fondly refer to it as "Triumph World". Their Kawi inventory is amazingly low and evidently they are selling pretty much everything they have. The owner said they won't get any new Kawis for another month. Still a number of Triumphs and KTM's on the floor currently, though. The Triumph models on the showroom floor included this beauty, a 2019 Thruxton R. I had a 2016 Thruxton R that I traded for Speedy and I still miss that bike. So this one really caught my eye. As did the price tag. I've posted a photo of this bike previously on the forum and am thinking maybe it's a sign that it's still there and I'm still drawn to it. Hmmm, there is an empty space in our garage now. Next stop, Tucson Harley-Davidson. AZ-KKT and THD are only about three miles apart along the Interstate 10 frontage road. AZ KKT is five miles from my house and THD is ten. Very (maybe too?) convenient. I arrived at THD fairly late in the day but even so if was pretty quiet today. I pulled into a parking spot right next to a Bonneville T120. As I was taking off my helmet and gloves, the owner walked up. When I complimented him on his bike he said he had just bought it an hour ago! I asked him if he bought it from Bruce at AZ-KKT and he that he had indeed. Bruce is the ONLY salesman at AZ-KKT so that was an easy guess. I went in and said hi to the staff that I know and chatted with a parts guy about a couple of things I want to buy for my Street Glide Special. Custom Dynamics LED turn signals with smoked lens covers and a Klock Werks Dark Smoke "Flare" windshield. I don't mind the heat all that much but it is nearly October so I'm getting a wee bit tired of temps like this. This was the temperature when I pulled back into the garage at 5pm. At least it was under 100ºF!
Got a phone call from the sheriff's department this morning that a drunk guy hit my fence at the farm last night. So 90 mile ride in a 20-30 mph crosswind to repair about 100 meters of fence. Fixed the fence, rode back to town beat from the wind and working. Stopped at local pub and enjoyed a pint of Guinness Stout from the tap. All in all a pretty good day as temps were only about 82.
hallelujah flitted the genuine centre stand to the Bonneville and the bike is rock solid now unlike the other tec stand it came with which must have been faulty.
I refitted a footrest with rain dripping down my neck and declined the roadtest. So many thanks for your weather news
Did a good 120 miler for the DGR today. Started in the little town I live in, ran up into the mountains for a bit of cooler weather. This is an old advert in Jonesborough Tn. Beautiful day to ride! A regular stop for bikers of all kinds in the tiny town of Shady Valley, Tn. Shady Valley Country Store. It gets so busy sometimes you can’t find a parking spot. Met these gents who were also participating in the DGR. A weir dam on the South Holston River that I pass on the way back home. Can’t leave out the food porn. Toasted bacon, egg, and cheese with hashed potatoes from the world famous Waffle House. Back home, the bike put in the garage, and now enjoying a nice pint or two. I got in on the DGR late this year but still managed to add nearly $1000 to the number. I’m already planning for next year. Anyone have any second hand tweed?
