My new Street Twin arrived one week ago. I have 500 miles on it so far.
    First concerns are.
    1. Loud clunk on all upchanges. Never had this before on over 20 new bikes, hope it goes away with miles.
    2. Bike wants to drift left all the time.
I have to hold a slight push on the right bar all the time, or shift my weight right to keep it straight.
When gripping the bars tight this would not be noticed, but when relaxed and letting the bike track naturally on a straight, the wheel wants to settle to the right, and the bike leans off to the left.
I have seen this misalignment before on new bikes....dealers ignore it till you tell them to lift their hands off the bars for a second..and the bars immediately nudge out of line.
Try it on your own bike, I would be very interested to see how many misaligned new bikes are out there.
This bike may be put on the market very soon...

Sorry to hear you've had these problems on a new bike mate. :(

    Cheers.
I strongly suspect that these bad ones slip through and no one notices. I've had three in my long career, and hoped they were a thing of the past. I demo'd a CBF1000 a few years back...it pulled left. I told Mr Dealer - he tried it - and was shocked but agreed. He'd not noticed it. I ordered a new one on condition it was straight - and it was. Some mug got the bent one.

Loud clunk on up changes is not normal. Clunk going down to first and occasionally going down to second is normal. Could the chain tension be wrong, perhaps a lack of rear wheel alignment affecting both chain and steering?

Good thoughts...I adjusted the chain and wheel alignment, both were out.
You would have thought that the dealer would have noticed these things and fixed a clunk, unless he's waiting for the 500 mile service to sort it. I guess they had a rush to get all the 70 plate bikes out...

If the problem persists after aligning the rear wheel it sounds like the forks are ‘out’. Simple enough fix

A good vid. And if the bike were not a week old I would be at it with the spanners - but I dare not let the dealer see that I have making my own changes or he can side-step his workshop's errors at PDI stage.
Fingers crossed it is just fork twist (not due to my riding) and they will spot it straight away. If not then I will attack it myself.
I once bought a new Zephyr 750 that tracked left, and the dealer really worked at it, pulling everything apart but just could not fix it. I sold it. You can see why I fear another similar saga...

If you have only had the bike a week, take it back to the dealer ASAP. If the dealer does not sort it out to your satisfaction, then under the Consumer Rights Act you have the right to a full refund from the dealer within 30 days of purchase, if the vehicle is not of satifactory quality or not fit for purpose.

Welcome to the family. Well i would have the bike back to the dealer asap and ask for correction or replacement. You don't buy a new bike to be scared of it. Its your rights not to mention safety. And a bike like this is dangerous and could go against you in any claim..
    Regards
    Joe.

Back she goes next week for 500 mile service.
I shall leave it with them and not wait - in case it is a long job, or sent back to Hinkley!

The wheels were not in line, but I corrected that.
But if the forks are twisted, lining up the back wheel to a twisted front wheel is not improving things...

Front alignment is pretty easy. Loosen your wheel and guard. Loosen the bottom yoke and twist and bounce the front around for a bit and it should all self align.
    Regards
    Joe.

    Thanks halfton.
This bike has, surprisingly, no marks at all. Perhaps at last they realised how pointless marks are!

    I told them the truth.

sorry to hear of your troubles, disgusting it should be so bad... keep on at the dealers while it is in warranty...I'm worried by your clunky gearbox and your pulling to the left...its not right and they need to put it right or provide one that is

    Agreed Chris.
What should be a pleasure is heading towards a battle.
If they fix it next week - great - if not - get rid and go back to Honda - my trade-in CB500X was a peach and hands-off straight.
    Regrets? I've had a few.....cue a song...

I blagged a ride on another dealer's demonstrator today, to make comparisons...
Same loud clunk on upchanges and the same lean to the left.
So "..they all do that, Sir..." is coming my way...
Anyone on the Forum want a discounted new Street Twin ?

You have to wonder about the dealership because it sounds like shoddy assembly and pdi. It is unlikely the clutch has warped plates from new and, with warm oil, the clunk is almost certainly drag from incorrect cable adjustment. Ditto tracking issues. The frame and swing arm will be fine. Rear and front wheel alignment is down to dealer assembly.
