Hey everyone I'm looking at buying my first Triumph any common faults to look out for on the speed triples I'm thinking of getting the 2013 to 2016 possibly the R or 94 I have seen a yellow 94 anniversary with ohlins it seems a good price is their much difference between the R and 94 its 2016 yellow miles under 10k for 6k
    Buying advise very welcome cheers

    Hi Chris, welcome in.

I had the 94 standard, its just a paint scheme. Think the 94r has black ohlins rather than the usual gold.

The 13-16 is probably the best built ones, I didn't have any issues with mine.

In 2016 they released the new model with a squarer tank and some internal changes. I had one of those too, throttle response was smoother.

    Good luck

    Thanks Moe
I just looked yes it was the 94r version in yellow with black forks I prefer the gold ohlins to be honest but its such a good price I'm tempted but I'm not a huge fan of the color combo.
Thank you for your input buddy

I have Just seen this one ebay.

Theirs a scratch by the gear lever on the frame that's giving me second thoughts maybe it been dropped and the shift has scratched it or something any thoughts?

    Welcome Chris.
You definitely want a BLACK 94R, not that I'm biased at all. ;)

If you do your own maintenance then a pre 2016 year has advantages. Many owners of post 16 Speedy's have had problems with the quickshifter/gearbox, so IMO q/s best avoided (but some will disagree).
The black Ohlins looks great on a black bike and I believe is the same as fitted to the later R models.

Could just be clumsy boot damage on that ebay bike, but not common so more likely a minor drop.

The black does look mint I agree I just spotted a 1050R dark edition 2013 only 30 made apparently its on autotrader for 6750 very tempting but not shore its worth the extra money the stock R but it looks amazing.

I will ask the dealer about scratch see if theirs any other marks on the same side.
I will be doing most my own maintenance I didn't know about the 2016 possible problems defiantly something I will take into consideration thank you for pointing out. A friend mentioned that when the battery gets low it can damage something that's expensive to fix I cant remember what it is I will have to ask him again.
    Thanks for the welcome

Sprag clutch on the starter would be what he said, was a potential problem on early Triumph's, but not really now, the ecu prohibits starting if voltage is below limit, thus avoiding any damage. If current owners having problems starting, it will 90% just be needs a fresh battery. Worth keeping on charge if not being used regularly.

Have a 2012 white R with a lot of extras and just had its valve check service done listed in for sale section.
