I have a 2010 se with a centre stand and something isn't right. When it's on the stand if I push the bike away from me its very firm and stable. But pull it towards me very little effort and it wants to tip over. Looking under the bike their are two lugs and my stand is bolted to the right side of these lugs and if I get behind the rear wheel and look down the edge of the tyre I can see the right side of the stand is further out than the left. So the question is is the stand fitted correctly to the right of the lugs. And if it is do you think it may be bent.

Go onto www.triumphinstructions.co.uk and download the fitting instructions for the centre stand, part number A9758145, that will tell you the correct way of fitting the centre stand, it sounds as if one of the shouldered sleeves is missing or worn, but the bike should be stable on the centre stand.

...They are perfectly easy to misfit as I discovered when refurbishing mine. Equally, there seems to be some variation between OEM and aftermarket types as to which side of the lugs they sit and their use of top hat washers.

thanks for the replies guys the instructions say it fits inside the lugs, from what I remember from when I looked I don't think that would be possible so maybe not a genuine centre stand then. if that's the case I don't suppose theirs much chance of knowing what make it could be. maybe its just going to be a case of trying different ways and see if one works better than another and doesn't fowl the exhaust.

just had a look and it most defiantly isn't a genuine triumph stand.
at first I thought it may be a Norman Hyde stand as the silencers are Norman Hyde but seeing one one eBay its different to that as well.

If you are looking to replace with a genuine Triumph stand give Total Triumph a ring, they had some deals on Bonneville centre stands, brand new for about £75. I have no idea whether they have the stand for the SE but it might be worth a phone call. (01823 358899)

They have one for a T100 on ebay for £75, not all of their stock is listed on the web, which is why it might be worth a phone call

right i think I've tracked the make of stand fitted to my bike it looks like its a TEC stand and looking at their fitting instructions it looks like it is fitted correctly so whether there is an issue with it making it not being stable I'm not sure. so have ordered one that claims to be a genuine triumph stand so I hope that one will work better.

I have a TEC centre stand for the same model of Bonnie. It fitted alright, however it didn't raise the back wheel off the ground for chain maintenance etc. I am having 5mm of steel strip welded on bottom and chamfered to allow extra height.
Also having aftermarket 2-1 exhaust meant the stop bracket and rubber buffer wasn't long enough, so I have adapted a strong wrought iron shelf bracket with a door stopper rubber on it - fitted on the nearside.

Hi but is yours stable side to side mine is fine if pushed to the right but very unstable if pushed to the left. and the right leg is visibly further out than the left leg hence why its less stable to the left.
i agree that mine also will not raise the rear wheel off the ground.

Right that seems to point to the fact that there is definitely something wrong with the stand on my bike then. Hopefully the stand I've brought that's supposed to be a genuine one will sort it out.
