Just received email from Triumph showing prototype of new Trident, says will be a triple, with minimalist form, muscular looks.
One pic looks like the Evel Knievel toy from the 70’s.
    Due out 2021.

Don’t really see how this fits in the range? I thought the 660 street triple was the entry level, low bhp bike?

Would have preferred a retro design as per the Bonneville range. Modern bikes with sticky-out bits and sharp edges going off in random directions don't float my boat I'm afraid. SIGH!!:(

Yep - got the same email message and promo.

It looks very much like a modded Street Triple with a single headlight and a revised retro tank. Nice. The "vacant" rear end is ugly and a wasted opportunity, IMHO.

Let's be greedy and have both. It used to be that way!

    Yamaha MT-07 - from £6,697
    Triumph Street Triple S - from £8,100

If the Trident is intended to compete with bikes like the Yamaha, I assume that it will be close to the MT's price. Hence the steel frame and off-the-shelf headlamp.

If the unrestricted version is c.90 bhp, it will be much more powerful than the MT/SV/Z650, of course.

    EDIT
    Forgot about the CB650R - £7,200 and 93.8bhp (70 kw).
