I've got a couple of questions..is their a list of recommended places to stay? the Peakpub looks good but i can't sleep if i hear even a hint of a snore! i'm not familiar with the Peak district so it would be interesting to explore it a bit,are we having any organized runs or do we do our own thing once there?, i'm thinking i might manage a couple of days and i woudn't want to turn up on the tue & wed if there is a run organized for thur, fri
There are one or two of us that live quite close to the Peak District and I'm sure that between us we could put an itinerary together. There are several places of interest and many picturesque towns and villages not to mention the local bakewell tart which can be had warm with custard or cold with a cup of tea, nice either way. Consider my services volunteered.

Well volunteered andypandy - I take it the cat and Fiddle will be a possibility? (albeit a busy one).
Camping is £20 per night ????? Hope your kiddin me !!! I was born in Scotland and raised in Yorkshire !!! I don't part with it that easily
Sure is, although it's all average speed cameras now. Still a nice road though. I've also heard that the Cat and Fiddle pub is closing down. There is often a plain police car knocking about in the area but mid week we should be ok. Then again we're mainly old gimmers anyway.
I'm staying here. Apparently walking distance to the campsite where the others are staying. Bull I' Th' Thorn Ashbourne Rd, Hurdlow, Peak District National Park SK17 9QQ, England

Welcome Dougie. Full industrial ear protectors might reduce the noise a bit, those and copious amounts of alcohol , drink aware! Don't drink too much unless someone else is buying!
cheers Crispey,i've booked a four bunk room the odds of a snorer will be less than the 6 or 8 bunk room! If i have too much alcohol i think i might be the one snoring but thats ok cause i don't seem to hear myself!
If yur wint summat reet cheep then yur meet try thees http://roachesbunkhouse.com/ It's not too far away but it's cheap for a reason. Weeds growing in the indoor toilets last summer (handy if you run out of Andrex) and well used to say the least and you can't lock your gear away during the day. You can bolt your door on the inside then crawl under the door to get out if you're skinny but then a thief can get in the same way. I stayed there last year with the Suzuki Bandit Forum Rideout lot at £10 per night per person. It's in a quiet spot, it has a well equipped kitchen and there are tables and chairs. Rooms are 4 bedded, there maybe some 2's. Some rooms don't have windows. I wouldn't take my wife there and I wouldn't stay in a room without a window.
