One of the writers on Blazing Saddles was none other than Richard Pryor. Even back then, some of the slang words used for blacks were a point of slight hesitation for Mel Brooks, but Pryor assured him they were funny and to keep them in the film. "Almost lost a perfectly good hand cart!"
I went to see Young Frankenstein when it first came out. I literally fell out of mi seat int picture house, laughing so hard. People were complaining they couldn't hear what was being said cos of my laughing. I was asked to leave and come back in when I'd composed misen!!
would have been quite a thing to see him (Pryor) as the sheriff but Cleavon Little did such a great job its hard to fathom. Equally crazy to think Mel didn't initially cast Wilder. Cant think of this movie without him in it. still one of my favorites to this day.
