Let's see what a good British winter will do for all this modern electric's and components, road salt rain and sludge working it's way into them even though they are resin protected

So true, but by then their lives will be so controlled they probably won't have to think much for themselves

Or bug splatter on sensors, software farmed out to a low bid 3rd party to limit builders liability, vehicles non functional while they fix a software glitch. Technology is great when it works.
Anybody need a Boeing 737 Max?

I also have the adaptive cruise control and many other electric aids on my car. When we had the snow earlier this year the sensors got covered and stopped working after only a short while. Lots of flashing lights on the dash to tell be the service had stopped. . That alone does not fill me with confidence.

I'd rather it told me that it couldn't work in the conditions and handed control back to me than carried on regardless and had a go at what it thought was probably about right!

No DD, in 20 years time it will illegal to laugh at anyone because of the offence and suffering caused, infact laughing itself will be illegal as someone might perceive that the laughter is aimed at them. :p - They will be told that their parents and grand parents were all homicidal maniacs that drove around in death machines killing all in their path, especially anyone who was not straight or white

In the loony left future, if you are caught laughing for whatever reason it will be 7 years in prison and a course of correct thinking reprogramming... well at least if Nicola Sturgeon and the other commies get their way: https://www.express.co.uk/news/poli...te-crime-new-law-humza-yousaf-holyrood-latest

I understand and I'm sorry you went through that, but, his fault, not yours.

Yes, so I understand. Apparently it was a merging of two great clans in the Western Highlands, the McGregors and the McDonalds...............

The way our liberties are gradually being eroded reminds me very much of the period in the thirties when Hitler and his cronies took power..........random rules put into place by Illeducated fuckwits because anybody doing better than them is threatening..........

I already figured that out. I rented a Toyota last winter and driving in the snow, the cruise control stopped working because the forward sensors were blinded by ice. So your Level 3 car ends up parking itself along the motorway because of a malfunction, leaving you to call for help. Doesn't sound very appealing.

I remember this well. Don, since Tempe is only 100 miles up the road from where I live. There were stories in the newspapers in on the television for weeks following this tragic incident. It was very clearly a technological issue that led to the death of this woman. Of course a human driver could’ve been looking down at their phone or something like that but the system is supposed to be safer and “aware“ and watching at all times from my understanding. Unfortunately, yes, the actual open roads seem to have become the testing ground for much of this technology. I’ve also read articles questioning the consistent ability of hands-free car technology to reliably detect motorcycles.

I believe that will be available as an option, Duck. But I’ve heard it will be quite a bit more expensive – both financially and otherwise. ;)

I was a.long distance.commuter on the Los Angeles Freeway.system for 30 years and I also spent another 6 years driving bobtail.trucks in that environment. Humans have the ability when they have that much exposure to traffic to read what the other guy is thinking BEFORE he does something stupid. A.I.cannot do that no matter how good the programmer is. A.I. can only respond to what has ALREADY happened. That human instinct has saved my life many times by giving me couple of hundredths of a second head start on a bad situation. ...J.D.

Hey all AI doesn't forget unless the database fails to keep generating a revenue stream.

Granted thousands must die to work out the bugs. After that it's all good until??? See above
