Following on from the @Ron Ashurst post about his beautiful grand daughter, I commented that I had a newly born grandson, who I probably wouldn't ever see.
We managed to meet him when he was 17 days old, then the Covid bollox took hold.
Well, it's turned out, due to reasons I don't want to air on a public forum, that it looked like he was going to be put up for adoption. Our lass and me decided that we couldn't let that happen, as he's our flesh and blood, so we applied to foster or get special guardianship of him. These last few months we've had to do online courses, had meetings, been scrutinised, had DBS checks, (mine took AGES to come back!!), had all our backgrounds checked, and generally had to jump through so many hoops! But, it looks like it's all been worthwhile, as the social services want us to have him. They seem confident that t'judge will follow their guidance, and place him with us, but until it's confirmed, we have to wait anxiously. We've been having video meetings with him and his foster carer 4 times a week, and the social services have let us visit the foster carers home, in Lancashire, to meet twice in t'last couple of weeks, and we're going again tomorrow. We are totally, and absolutely smitten with him. Me and him did a couple o laps of the Austrian GP on Sunday. :p
I didn't envisage in mi wildest dreams, becoming a parent again at nearly 63, but now I can't wait!!
Our lass and me with him, and me and him watchin Gp.

A sad story that looks like it'll have a happy ending! God bless y'all for doing that. I don't even want to think about losing my empty nester status. I would for my grandkids, though. Good on ya'.

Good for you, congratulations. My first thought was how at 63 you would coping with broken sleep. Then I realised that even in my late 40's I am getting up for a pee every few hours anyway!

If we get t'nod on Thursday, I'm bringin him to Cadwell, to see you race, and continue his education. It's one of t'first places I took my kids, and they practically grew up there! They still love it to this day, and my parents took me when I was a baby, they used to torment me, sayin that I cried t'first time a bike fired up near me!! :sob::joy:

Foxy, this was a deeply moving story!

A friend of mine told me lately: You do not choose love; love chooses you...

I firmly press both my thumbs for you, your wife and the little lad!

    Cheers, Daniel
