In that case all is good except for the fact that it needs more chrome - like mine

Not sure that the one I'm working on needs more chrome, it has loads already, I think the same amount of yours, but it all needs a good polish. What I do like a lot is your tank, much better looking than the plain black.

as far as tyres go my recommendation is for Avon Roadriders!.

As far as not being able to find your bike on insurance websites, i've had the same problem with my 2007 Bonneville (see my thread on the subject)
Triumph seemed to have been bad at informing the ABI correctly, luckily i managed to get mine resolved quite quickly (when i found the right people to contact) and now it shows on the quote lists :)

No..sometimes black will do just as well.
You've based you're whole assessment of the bike on a petrol cap?

To bring the thread back on track I saw my mate yesterday, and he has decided what to do with the bike. He's not sure that he will ride it again, and knows that it has to be ridden, but he doesn't want to sell it. So I have an America on indefinite loan. He keeps ownership of it, so if he wants / needs to sell it, or decides to start riding it again he can, but I've got a new toy in the mean time, the only conditions are that I keep it up together, and he's a named rider on the insurance. So I'll get it insured, put some new tyres on it, then it's ready to go.

If you can afford 5 grand for a bike I'm pretty sure you can stretch to a 50 quid fuel cap if it's that much of a concern. If it bothers you so much though then just sell it and have done with it but please stop bleating about it because you are honestly just making yourself look a bit daft and more than a little melodramatic.

If the fuel cap means so much to you start a new thread, me, I'll enjoy the bike as it is, it's not a huge problem for me, and if it was I'd buy a locking cap.
