I posted this in the "What Have You Been Doing With Your Triumph Today" thread, and thought I would re-post is here as it's specific to the Speedmaster

Since I got the bike about 18 months ago, I've always found my 2005 Speedmaster to be a slight stretch regarding the reach to the handlebars. Not too bad, but felt that it would be more comfortable if the bars were back a couple of inches or so.

I'd read that the new model Speedmaster risers bring the bars back and that they fit without changing original cables/pipes………….

Today I swapped the stock (2005) risers for the newer model Speedmaster risers. They lifted the bars and also brought them back 2". They feel a lot more comfortable as I found that with the older stock risers, I was stretching a bit. Now the bars are more suited to me.

The cables didn't need re-routing or replacing, but I would've like an extra inch on the throttle cables and front brake pipe, however they appear to be OK on full lock turning left and right.

Comparison between old (silver) and new (black)

    Both new ones fitted

Next quest is to see what I can do regarding fabricating some brackets to bring the foot pegs back 2 or 3 inches………..

Nice job, it's great when you can find a simple solution to a problem.

I have the opposite problem, my bars are too close, looking to maybe swap to a Speedmaster set-up. Need to sit on one and decide, but your set-up there looks good.

Thanks for the reply (and like). Yes, I'm pleased with how the job went. I didn't need an assistant, just laid the bars on my tank.

I agree, it sounds like you may need a Speedmaster set-up. Find a friendly SM owner and have a try of the bar position.

I did see the posting, however I won't be able to attend. I am still hoping to attend the Dent meet-up, depending upon work shifts etc.
