Not exactly a pet but just outside my window until a moment ago

 

Sparrowhawk?

 

That was my initial reaction - a female sparrowhawk but scaled against the decking boards it wasn’t big enough and too heavily built. I think it was an immature Goshawk from this year but if anyone wants to be definitive?

It was also more brown than grey to the naked eye. The photo makes it more grey toned.

 

Probably a juvenile goshawk then. Difficult to determine sometimes.

 

Great photo of the hawk, Callumity! I saw a hawk along the path on my walk yesterday morning but before I could get my phone out to take a photo he was off. I think it was a Harris hawk.

However, I did get multiple little photos of this young roadrunner the same morning. I was right outside out back gate about to get on the path while setting up my headset and podcast for the day. I kept hearing an odd sort of "clicking" sound and couldn't place it. When I looked up, here he was just looking at me. He (or she?) came within just a few feet of me and seemed as curious about me as I was about him. Delightful!

 

Not ours but we will be looking after these two every other weekend.

Hi Jez I'm sad to say that Buddy went to another family as I became very ill a few weeks back and couldn't look after him, I'm currently 13 lbs underweight and trying to pull myself back together again and it's going to be a long slow haul, he's gone to a nice family so he will be ok.

 

So sorry to hear this - Puppies can be very demanding, even when you are fully fit. I hope it's not too long before you are back heathly again, and I wish you well with your recovery

I'm so sorry to learn that you've been ill, David. I hope that you recover quickly and fully. I'm also sorry that you had to give up Buddy to another family but good on you for realizing what he needed is something that would be difficult for you to provide even though it was probably a very difficult decision.
