These are stunning pictures.....Yucatan cenotes? You? Somewhere else? Somebody else?

Sorry, you have already told me where this is. I am going for a walk later.

@Thripster, the pictures with the rays in them are Cozumel. And I'm assuming that you're correct that the photos with the divers in them are the Yucatan cenotes because the photos are from Living Underwater's Instagram page. I dove the cenotes once about ten years ago or so and absolutely loved the experience. Very beautiful and surreal. I'd do it again in a heartbeat! It would be great to take Mr. Sandi, too, as I dove the cenotes before he and I were together and prior to when he started diving.

Cozumel is my Place of Positive Awesomeness, @Thripster! I started diving Cozumel back in 2004 and love it there. The people, the island, the ocean. Other than not having many riding options, I could definitely live there. Fortunately Mr. Sandi loves it just as much as I do. We missed out on a dive trip we had planned there this past March. We originally cancelled because of my bicycle crash but it turns out we'd have probably cancelled due to COVID anyway. We're tentatively looking at going back this next March depending.

I have literally hundreds of fabulous photos of Cozumel both on land and on and in the water. It is a truly magical place with constant photo ops. Here are just a few pics. The first is during a surface interval between morning dives. There's a big sand bar towards the south end of the island where the crew sometimes stops if choppy waves make it more difficult to pull up at Palancar Beach Club, a little low key place with palapas and a light menu.

The second photo is the view from the dock at the condo complex where we always stay. Troubles and the rest of the world melt away when we sit out on the patio and look at this. I met a couple on the island years ago who own one of the condos in the complex. They live in Santa Fe, New Mexico and we've become friends. So we always plan around when their condo is open so we can stay there. It's right on the south end of San Miguel, the largest town on the island. We can pretty much walk everywhere including to the "Mega" store about half a block away. Mega is sort of like Wal-Mart in the U.S. with most anything you would need.

The remainder of the photos depict a ubiquitous sight on the island. There are scooters everywhere! And you will see lots of families where all the family members are piled aboard one scooter as it's the only form of transportation for many of the Cozumel residents. We've seen as many as five people on one scooter and one even had a dog on the floorboards, too! You can definitely see the Mayan influence in the faces and the stature of the islanders who in our experience have always been hospitable and charming.

This was right across the street from our condo.

One night we happened upon an honest-to-goodness motorcycle rally! We figured they must have all arrived from the mainland via the ferries that come across from Play del Carmen.

I can’t take credit for it, Duck, but I love that photo, too! It would make a great poster. :)

I had a Kawasaki 3 cylinder 2 stroke and it was scary quick, I'd hate to even try and hold on to the 7. Wow.

Some of you may have previously seen this video. I had but ran across it again today and it made me smile just as much the 2nd time around. :grinning:

The following from C. S. Lewis. It was written in 1948 after the dawn of the atomic age.

In one way we think a great deal too much of the atomic bomb. “How are we to live in an atomic age?” I am tempted to reply: “Why, as you would have lived in the sixteenth century when the plague visited London almost every year, or as you would have lived in a Viking age when raiders from Scandinavia might land and cut your throat any night; or indeed, as you are already living in an age of cancer, an age of syphilis, an age of paralysis, an age of air raids, an age of railway accidents, an age of motor accidents.”

In other words, do not let us begin by exaggerating the novelty of our situation. Believe me, dear sir or madam, you and all whom you love were already sentenced to death before the atomic bomb was invented: and quite a high percentage of us were going to die in unpleasant ways. We had, indeed, one very great advantage over our ancestors—anesthetics; but we have that still. It is perfectly ridiculous to go about whimpering and drawing long faces because the scientists have added one more chance of painful and premature death to a world which already bristled with such chances and in which death itself was not a chance at all, but a certainty.

This is the first point to be made: and the first action to be taken is to pull ourselves together. If we are all going to be destroyed by an atomic bomb, let that bomb when it comes find us doing sensible and human things—praying, working, teaching, reading, listening to music, bathing the children, playing tennis, chatting to our friends over a pint and a game of darts—not huddled together like frightened sheep and thinking about bombs. They may break our bodies (a microbe can do that) but they need not dominate our minds.

Saw this on tonight’s dog walk... it may not mean much to you, but it looked great to me.
