Managed a ride today

So got home from work early enough with dry roads and some daylight left. And Ive been itching to get out on a bike Ive bought with my heart . Now I knew it was going to feel differant to what Ive been riding for the last 10/12 year but it took me by surprise a bit.
Going along a motorway first, it felt pretty sprightly... I have been riding a 48bhp 650 Transalp for the last few years !!! It was powerful enough to keep me smiling anyway. I did feel the wind blast at 80mph mind and thought this could get tiring, but was impressed that the revs were only just above 4k.
Feet forward position was overcome in short distance... no probs there. Fueling at low speed was nice enough, a tad snatchy but nothing to worry me.. and better than the Yamaha 660s I had with F I
But..... not sure about.. seating position. Only a 40 mile jaunt and my coccyx felt awkward...... I have damaged it mountainbiking a few years ago, and it would cause discomfort after a day out on my Transalp.... but 40 miles didnt impress me !
Either the airhawk is going to get used a lot... or a gel insert will be needed. If not , its a differant bike for me !!

Well I got the bike out again today as I needed to go to Bridgend, did motorway there and A roads back. Nice but cold, I decided to go with my open face helmet.... haha silly sod... face was F in freezing, but it slowed me to a leisurely 65mph. Dont think its my poor coccyx thats the problem. Im thinking its the seat curve to the rear is just gripping my arse in the wrong way. My next ride will be with my airhawk to see how it feels then, Im guessing a load better though.
And after having big bouncy trailies for the last few years getting used to nil suspension travel on the rear is starnge... and a long wheel base that doesnt seem to like slow bends ??

 

Yes ... unfortunately the bone on the arse is a pain in it... used to get good pain on the transalp, but that was after the day, and could get to France in that time. Initially the Speedmaster feels super comfy, but Ive already dropped the bars a touch to see if that helps comfort further. Never had gel inserts before in a seat but maybe I will need to go down this route

 

Always fancied a Trials Enfield, for light greenlaning. Lovely sound, but just a touch too slow

 

Got out today as my mate wanted a brekkie. Done about 130 miles and love the way the bike rides. Used the airhawk which made life better biut still got arse pain after a while. Think my butt just sits where the curve is at the rear of the rider part of the seat, and because the feet are forward on the pegs, all the pressure goes through this point. Wondering whether I can have the seat flattened out a bit, but not sure where my choices lie


As you see the airhawk is pushed right back and did provide relief

 

Be interesting to see how it goes for you MrO. Im of the opinion it isnt my coccyx that is the problem at the mo, but the shape of the seat isnt a "one size fits all " so as to speak

 

Had a discussion about this today with my mate on his Dragact... dont think it may make a differance as the feet are still forward which means the pressure is still analy directed !!
