Good point, half ton. It's hard to know the circumstances. It does seem odd that folks are out walking around in an area where bears are so bold. Makes you wonder... That said, the selfie was a bit much.

    THE TRUTH ABOUT NURSERY RHYMES

    HUMPTY DUMPTY

So where does this rhyme about a giant egg-shaped man come from?

The real HUMPTY DUMPTY was a powerful cannon used by the Royalists during the English Civil War of 1642 - 1651.

During the Seige of Colchester, the supporters of Charles 1st had almost won the battle thanks to their powerful cannon HUMPTY DUMPTY.

The cannon, HUMPTY DUMPTY was in pole position on top of the church tower of St Mary-at-the-Walls. The gunner, One-Eyed Thompson, managed to blast away the attacking Roundheads for 11 weeks solid. But, after weeks of attacks, the church tower collapsed, sending HUMPTY DUMPTY crashing to the ground with it. HUMPTY landed on the marshy grounds outside the city wall. As you can all guess, all the kings horses and all the kings men, couldn’t put HUMPTY together again . Without their weapon of mass destruction, the royalist soldiers were soon overrun. There are two further verses to the rhyme that tell the tale in more detail....

    In sixteen hundred and forty-eight,
When England suffered the pains of state,
The Roundheads laid siege to Colchester Town,
Where the king’s men still fought for the crown.

There One-Eyed Thompson stood on the wall,
A gunner of the deadliest aim of all.
From St Mary’s Tower his cannon is fired,
    HUMPTY DUMPTY was his name.

So how did HUMPTY become an egg?
The rhyme was originally pictured with a boy sat on a wall. Then in 1871 Lewis Carroll’s ’Alice Through The Looking Glass’ depicted HUMPTY as an egg. It seems like egg-shaped HUMPTY has stuck ever since.

This bighorn sheep family was spotted on the grounds of a local high school that's located in the foothills of the Catalina Mountains where recent Bighorn Fire occurred. Yes, the Bighorn Fire was named after the small herds of bighorn sheep who repopulated the area over the last 15 years or so.

I think quite a lot of wildlife who have been displaced by the fire may be showing up on our back doorsteps. The high school is only 5 miles from my house.

Well, the saying "when it rains it pours" was certainly true in The Old Pueblo (Tucson's nickname) yesterday. We'd only had about 2.5 inches of rain on the year so far (half of normal to date) and yesterday we more than doubled it! I'm not sure how much rain we got at our house but I'd guess nearly 3 inches and in only a few hours' time. Our summer monsoon season has begun!! :grinning:

Humpty Dumpty sat on the wall,
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.
All the king's horses and all the king's men,
Said 'Oh no - not scrambled eggs for breakfast again'

    Or:-

    Hickory hickory dock,
Three mice ran up the clock,
    The clock struck one,
    The other two got away.

    Or:-

One fine day in the middle of the night,
Two dead men got up to fight,
Back to back they faced each other,
Drew their swords and shot each other.

Mr. Sandi and I have been diving from this boat in Cozumel a number of times. It's run by a great little dive operation called "Living Underwater".
