On my ride this morning I found myself in the village of Otterlo. I was welcomed by the sight of scores of banners affixed to lampposts on which the faces, names and nationalities of those who fell in the last battle before liberation were printed. Every single lamppost in the village centre bore one. This year the 75th anniversary of liberation is celebrated. The top photo isn't mine, plucked that off the web. download (1).jpeg 20200719_104919.jpg 20200719_104828.jpg

@Vulpes your nation humbles us, if only some of the pond life in the UK showed as much respect for those that gave all.
    Thanks for sharing those pic's

We as a nation are humbled by the sacrifices made. Never forget.

The gentleman in the bottom photo

Having said that, we do have our share of disrespectful cretins as well, mate.

Your town of Steenbergen has a historical connection to the RAF as the resting place of Guy Gibson 617 sqn and is well tended by town folk, we attended a ceremony there once.
