Also, rake light has condensation/water in it. Being replaced under warranty but it takes 6 weeks for parts to come from UK to AUSTRALIA.

it also took 6 weeks out of action for my street triple waiting for three replacement coils after 10 years of hard revving. Such a fun bike was the 09 street triple r!

Further to the issues with the Quickshifter, I received a recall notice today to fit the Modified gear linkage. Ive already had this done 2 months ago so Triumph Australia dont keep very good records, but at least now they admit that the problem needs to be fixed.
In Oz the recall notice is this: (attached)

Unfortunately that’s not the fix. I’ve had the new linkage on two bikes, and it didn’t fix either.

Further to my slipping slipper clutch, under warrantee the Trumpy crew greased the cables to no avail, pullled the clutch apart, adjusted the clutch spring which was overtight, and all good. Something I would never have attempted myself so I'm glad I took it straight back to the shop.

While at it, they replaced my brake light under warrantee. It had condensation in it.

    Happy trails.

Hello, I'm French (sorry for the Google translation)
Bought mid-2017 a Speed Triple R triumph 14700 € with option (including shifter)
About 7000km (3 months) range of the 6 crooked => repair,
    13000km box replacement
18000km reloading of box in front of expert
22000km it would be necessary to recut the box .... (is a whole 5500km about 2 per year in this case)
Leak gasket, rocker cover, starter, timing chain tensioner.

Especially between the first and the second if in a very violent regime, sometimes the two jump then dead.

    I am 20000 / year and there I have only 22000 in 2 years ....
I am currently in court, so I am looking for similar cases to mine. About 15 cases found in 6 months in France

    Here is my Facebook page

Hahahahahahaha! Finally received my recalls, you know, for both bikes. As you know the first bike had the gearbox destroyed, and then they eventually they gave me a replacement. Mind you I had to write the CEO, anyway here they are. Note the different VIN #’s. It’s laughable that Triumph is trying to pass this off as a fix. I guess it’s time to just let it go and except that a fix will never happen. Where’s that therapist’s number again.

    Hi.
except for the quickshifter fault, the motorcycle menu navigation button. For replacement - jams after a while. Well, the new thing of recent days I noticed a problem with the brake pump master cylinder - the first soft push and the second correct. This is what I will report. In addition, the motorcycle after a strong ride and when it is warm after switching off and restarting for have a problem with the start - sometimes misfires.

My bike also had the master cylinder issue. First pull soft then second pull firm. I fixed the issue by cleaning the calipers. Each caliper had a sticking piston. I had to pump the brakes gently while cleaning to get the stuck piston to move out. I put a piece of wood between the other two pistons and held the third piston with my fingers as I pumped the brakes gently to get the stuck piston out. One out spray soapy water on it and clean with tooth brush until it moves easily when brakes are gently applied. Once the pistons were free the brakes have been excellent. Have a look at this video on how to properly clean calipers.

I think all manufacturers have had their issues over the years. As much as I have been pissed off about the quickshifter issue, I still think the RS is a top quality bike and one of the best in its class. Every time I ride another bike and get back on my Speed, it reconfirms I made the right choice for me.

Yes. For me it is not my first new motorcycle. I used to drive Honda, BMW and Moto Guzzi. Everyone broke in their own way. Rust in Honda and cracking plastics. In BMW the ABS pump went down and problems with breeding in Boxer. In Moto Guzzi - eh, a whole bunch of small things, seals, wires, relays, ignition pipes, lambda probes. Conclusion - every motorcycle has the right to have its whims and there are no perfect vehicles.

2 issues - one solved, the other a mystery

    1) Oil leaking from top of fork at 2000 miles. Just replaced the whole damn thing. Had to wait a few weeks to get it from Ohlins, but no problem whatsoever. Fully covered under warranty with zero fuss.

    2) Starting at about 1500 miles I have had 4 or 5 instances where the engine will suddenly cut all engine power (dash and electric still on) for a split second and then come right back. Has always happened within a few miles of starting my commute form work. If it happens, it will happen repeatedly on that ride. Scary as shit to be doing 80+ and then have the power suddenyl and completely cut out, start to drift and suddenly lurch right back into high speed. Pulling in the clutch softened the power surge, but not what you need to have happen on a packed freeway with folks on your ass and you on a bucking bronco. Never had it cut out and NOT come back within a second or so.

Took it in and they couldn't figure it out at all. I cant recall (last fall) what they replaced (maybe the ECU for the EFI), but at the end of the day it still recurred a few times after that. Computer didnt register any issues. Firmare update did nothing.

Whats even weirder is they had a floor model that that happened to them on and they had been working on that for a month or two (waiting for parts) and still hadn't solved it as of last winter.

Since then, I've typically allowed the engine to warm up in neutral for 30-60s. Not sure why, but hasn't happened since the spring riding season started.

On a bike I was having a hard time falling in love with, this almost resulted it my selling it. If it recurs this year, I'm done. No explanation. The triumph guys couldn't figure it out on their own bike, though I haven't been back this year to see if they found a solution

    Anyone else have this issue???

Hi guys, got this one last week, but I wasn't able to find the cause or any solution here (maybe I missed it). Anyone knows?
My bike is at the dealership since Monday, so far no solution/cause heard from them, they've just told me they are consulting with the factory directly... :-(

mine was easy... rear brake switch kept activated, so cruise was not ready. Simple adjustment solved it

Thank you for a quick response :) Did you also had the check engine light on? I forgot to mention it in the first post. Also, they told me that the brake light doesn't respond at all, not that it is always on, so either they're mistaken or it's probably a different problem I guess.

So, today the dealer called me the problem is fixed, they told me it was caused by the pins on the brake switch, so similar thing Arno Triple had, just not with the switch alone, but in the connection of it. Hopefully that's my last problem with a new Speed ;-)
