    Hi,

    I have just joined here after finally buying the Triumph I should have bought new in 2000. Let me tell you briefly how I ended up here as a Triumph owner.

    I've always been in to bikes and cars and did a bit of Supersport 400 & 600 club racing in 2000 & 2001 and even managed a few trophy's along the way.

    Having ridden since the age of 8 I gave up road riding in 2001 while I was still competing and the road riding appeal did not return. However, in 2013 I was forced in to a rush hour commute which at times can take 50 minutes to cover 13 miles. I decided to get a cheap road bike to make this a bit quicker which it does, 15 minutes on a sunny day.

    I bought a brand new SV650 S and set about changing bits on it before I had even ridden it. I also booked two track days before it was delivered and had done them prior to completing the first 700 miles in 12 years.

    To cut a long story short, the road riding was more fun than I was expecting and was pleasantly surprised by my track pace. I went to the classic TT last year on the SV (as a spectator), I'm going again this year and it now seems like I've never been away from bikes.

    I had quite a number of new bikes in the late 90's, the last being a new (2000) RSV 1000 Mile, which was very average to be honest. The only big bike of that era that I rode, loved but didn't buy was the 955i Daytona.

    I always wanted the very lightest and fastest thing I could get back then and the Daytona lost out due to its weight. I've always wanted one ever since really and it's a bike I'm positive will become a strong emerging classic. I've had a classic car for some years now and the ever increasing value makes owning classics very easy to justify.

    So, as a slightly premature 40th birthday present, I now have a year 2000 955i with a genuine 4,800 miles on it. I'm pleased as punch with it, I've still not even ridden it yet but already have the Triumph high level carbon can for it, but sadly not the link pipe...see my other post; http://www.thetriumphforum.co.uk/th...-955i-daytona-high-level-triumph-carbon.5369/

    Yes, I know I need a bigger garage...

    Welcome in Oscar, that is one hell of a clean example of 2000 955i! You sometimes wonder what people buy them for but are always thankful that they did when you can get your hands on one of that age in that condition! Happy riding

    Sorry, I've not checked back for a while - and thanks for your comments.

    In answer to your question its a concours (true meaning; better than new) 280 Brooklands Capri that I've owned for years. Not everyone's cup of tea but I like it.:) - A link to the work on it;

  17. You're not far wrong, I've done 741 miles in the last 2 years and 1770 in the last 7. To be fair, It's stored 7 months of the year and during the other 5 it competes for time with 3 motorcycles, clay shooting and my young children. It'll be easier once my kids are both at school as most of my days off are Mon-Fri.

    Sadly though, increasing the mileage kills the value so they're expensive miles but I bought it to own and use and you're a long time dead. One identical to mine (although mine will have a better finish throughout, particularly as they were left the factory with bare primer finish underneath) with 960 miles sold recently for £54k; https://www.silverstoneauctions.com/1987-ford-capri-280-brooklands-6822

    Thought you were talking about your Daytona then!!! Thought it was a good investment!o_O:oops:

  19. Sadly not, I do actually have another one, a 98 T595 in black with 13k miles that I will shortly be selling. That one has to live in a storage unit that I rent at the moment but I have a plan to expand my garaging. I have to rip-tie the right peg up on the red one as well as remove the left wing mirror to get it to clear the car and door. The SV has to be on a stand or a chocked side stand (put in backwards) to fit in that gap. A fat person would not be able to use the personnel door to my garage...:confused:

    Years ago I did have a GSXR-750 parked behind one of our sofas but those days are gone. :rolleyes:
