    And the Yamoto had the biggest guns of any warship ever built, and as you said we will never know the outcome, but when I read these books I can't help feeling that it was just a complete waste of brave men's lives on both sides of the conflict purely because of politics.

    Absolutely fantastic sculpture, made by local artist Ray Lonsdale, if anyone is nearer Seaham they have to go to see him.

    @Dartplayer, have you read or heard of the book Shadow Divers? I originally read it because of my love of diving but I also enjoyed history and uboat backstory too. You might really enjoy it if you haven't already read it.

    Let me know what you think of it if you do read it, Darlplayer! I just may reread it, I like it that much. And it's been years since I last read it. It was supposedly in the works to be made into a movie but that didn't ever materialize unfortunately. I think it would have been a good one.
