Greetings Triumph folk. I am a veteran rider who has owned two Sprints, but currently ride a BMW R1200RT. I am very interested in the new Scrambler as a second bike, but I'm put off by the exhaust pipe heat. I'm on a mission ... to see if there is a cure for said heat using asbestos header tape. Any and all input greatly appreciated.
Bemmer, check out the Scrambler section. There are a few members here that have dcat/heat wrapped/new pipes to reduce the heat from the XE/XC bikes. I've got the 1200XE myself and while it can certainly get warm sitting in traffic I just prop my right leg up on peg when not moving but I might get around to a dcat one day.
Welcome! Just so we know, have you tried a Scrambler and found that there is a problem with the heat from the exhaust, or do you simply suspect that there will be a problem with heat from the exhaust? From my experience (admittedly on the Street Scrambler) there is an expectation that heat from the exhaust will be a problem but the reality is that it's fine, and <whisper> I think for many it's simply an excuse to decat as they like the noise </whisper> Whatever, please don't put asbestos on your bike!
Hiya mate, just buy one and stop twisting @Gyp...... cats have no place on a motorcycle, set them free.
Hi Beemer and welcome to the forum Decat definitely helps reduce heat, but I found they are not over the top hot as a HD is
BeemerExpat Welcome to the family. Don't worry about it just carry plenty of ice with you. Regards Joe.
