Canada Is Lovely, But I Wish I Had This Bike When I Lived In England!

Back in 2005, after living in the UK for the previous 9 years (the entire time living in and around Stockport, Chesh.), I returned to my native Canada to raise my family. My home now is Winnipeg, Manitoba. Probably some of the flattest terrain in Canada. The only words for our roads here are; straight, boring, bumpy and, for half the year, frozen!

Prior to life in the UK I had a few bikes, all Kawasakis. A '82 LTD 440, '78 KZ650 and a '77 KZ1000. All of them I modified to the limits of my ability and budget at the time. The LTD I just put on a new coat of paint and straight bars. the 650 and the 100 I changed the pipes, airbox, and re-jetted the carbs. I always had plans to go deeper but never had the time, budget, or ability. But alas, for my whole time in the UK I never rode.

A few years after I moved back to Canada (when our dollar had a brief run of strength to the USD) I went into the US and picked up a Harley-Davidson Fatboy. Again, minimal mods limited to bars and cabling. I kept that about 4 years, but the kids were young and I never got time on it. :(

I just acquired my dream bike. A 2010 Bonneville T100. It is what I was trying to make my Kawis into all along. And more.

Hello from a fellow Newb and Canadian.
Winnipeg is the coldest "big" city in Canada too isn't it?
Living in Toronto, i already find the riding season to be short, i can't imagine how short it must be in the Peg.

With that being said, you have a beautiful bike! Enjoy!

    Thanks Prank!

Don't get me started on the brevity season! It's been a fantastic start to summer so far. MANY days at or dam close to +30 degrees! BUT... I know the MINUS 30, hell, minus 40 is only 6 months away! But, it give me lots of tinker time with the ride!

    Welcome from your southern neighbor.
Nice ride. I understand straight roads and bitter winters. It makes summer just so much more dear.

Thanks mate. Just means I'm gonna have to do some road trips!

I shouldn't complain too much. The one thing we do have is reliable weather and beautiful open skies!
