While giving her a quick wipe over before liberally applying ACF-50, I spotted this suspect bit of sealant (at first I thought it was chewing gum)

I picked a load off that was needlessly on the casing, and then took a few pics.

Currently waiting for my Haynes manual to arrive, so thought I'd post on here, not sure what cable that is coming out of the casing. I'm assuming it's not standard, anyone think it's worth taking the casing off to investigate? I'm assuming the seal on the cable has corroded, so it's been bodged.

I had a 2010 T100 and I don't remember anything like that at all? That's the alternator cover I think. It looks like someone has bodged or modified the cabling. See pic of parts specifically part no.2 :

Same wiring coming out of my america, just looks like someone bodged it, but wire is in the same place.

I would guess at an oil leak around where the wires enter the casing and bodge by previous owner to stop it.
Clean it up and re-seal a bit tidier.

If you look at part no. 2 in the above diagram it shows a rubber grommet affair on the cable which would serve as a seal. Plus the cable in the pics looks like it's at a right angle as it goes through the cover, unlike in the diagram.

I'm by no means an expert, but quickly had a look at mine (T100 2011). Same wire, and I did spot a bit of chewing gum there too, just nowhere nearly as bad a job as that. And I happen to know that all jobs on my bike prior to me were done at Dublin Triumph (by no means a guarantee of quality service).
