    Pretty much finished just needs a bit more fettling unfortunately the polishing darkens the laminate need another mop head but it goes well with the rifle.

    Thanks! like most things i take an interest in i just go for it bit like the gun stocks just dive in and learn on the job,
    As for heat treat yest they should be but i have no forge so mine are just made from hard stainless but then most dont get used and go on display...they will hold an edge but not as tough as if they where forged.

    You can make something like the bottom one from a farriers rasp, as long as you don't get it too hot the steel will still be hard and you can temper it in your oven. Tough enough to take chunks out of a tree and sharp enough to shave with.
