Greetings to all existing forum members. After most of my 39 year riding life on cutting edge Jap machinery I’ve finally gone and bought a “classic” British twin. Well OK, not quite, now made in Thailand and all that but not overly concerned about that TBH. Found myself really admiring (fancying) a Street Scrambler and a test ride convinced me I needed one so I pick one up tomorrow as a little retirement present to self. It’ll join my road bike and dirt bike and will fit in nicely I reckon. Lovely bike to ride despite being nearly 140hp down on the road bike and the looks have really grown on me. Got a great deal on the bike plus a heavily discounted “enduro kit” of bolt on accessories, most of which I like with perhaps a couple of exceptions. No doubt, as with the other two rides, mods will follow! Ride safe and enjoy.
Well, I guess it’ll be just another SS with a few bits on but I’ll post up a couple of pics. Haven’t bought a new bike for a few years now and had forgotten what that lovely, warm fuzzy “new bike on it’s way“ feeling was like. Roll on tomorrow morning!
Yep no better feeling ...... well maybe there are some others that come to mind, but getting a new bike is one good one. Now where is that babes and bikes thread
I currently have a ZZR1400 (ZX14R) and a Husaberg FE570. The big Z is a brilliant long distance bike with serious performance on the right roads but a bit out of it’s depth on tight, bumpy back roads of which we have plenty round here. The Berg is phenominal off road but a real PITA on tarmac with the knobblies on. Enter the Scrambler!
Welcome onboard. I've worked down from Hayabusa to Street Scrambler so understand the move. The SS reminded me of why I started riding in the first place. I've bored people with this before but you're new so I can say it again... With most bikes I've bought I've been comparing how the new one handled, or accelerated, or steered, or braked or whatever. When I tested the SS, none of those things mattered, I was purely and simply enjoying riding again. It was the least expensive and least capable bike that I test rode. And like you, once I'd ridden it I just had to buy it. Go easy with the accessories as it's easy to get carried away.
Ha ha! I also got triumph ambushed this week. Went from being a never Triumpher to a Triumph owner in just a few days. They sure are understated bikes Welcome!
Hope you enjoy getting your bike today and as the sun gods are out, going home the loooonnnggg way!!! Safe riding!
Picked up the new steed today and all good. I intended to upload a photo but can’t figure out how? The dealer is just over 12 miles away, the journey home was 106. I could ride this all day. An absolute hoot on roads where you just can’t use 100+bhp. Running in of course for the first 500 miles or so but that’ll soon come up. I’ve heard and read of some riders complaining of heat from the exhaust but can’t say it bothered me that much. With my leg pressed against the heat shield it did feel slightly warm but not uncomfortably so. Those nice looking headers obviously do get stinking hot and would definitely ruin your nylons! Edit.....thanks to Helmut’s upload advice below!
