Mine had battery issues when it arrived, changed the battery and no more problems. If you have the Datatool its probably the S4C1 red, the unit has a red band round it, there is a blanking plug you can get to disable the alarm/immobiliser, part number T200369, I've seen quotes from £3.65 to £11 odd, but only available from Triumph stealers. (sorry. meant dealers!) Don't forget before you take your battery off put the Datatool into 'Winter Mode' or the alarm will scream at you because of its own built in battery. If you don't have the instruction booklet you can down load one, they seem to do one for all models. Hope I'm not teaching Granny to suck eggs. Terry
Hi HO, there was a period when I was having the battery on and off my Datatool-equipped T100 and it never screamed it me when I removed the battery and I hadn't put it in any special mode
Thanks Terry - Yes it was screaming at me last night while I was changing batteries - just about got my hearing back now! Have since Googled the manual and will put in into winter mode next time.
When you said it wouldn't start up does that mean it still turned over slower than usual or holding the starter button firmly without letting go did it click rest click rest click and so on? If it did your bike could be one of the newer can-bus electrical systems which are a total pain and a common problem.
The bike wouldn't even turn over, just click nothing click nothing - please educate me!! It's a 2012 - what does 'can-bus' mean? The battery is defo naff, as it didn't have enough in it to start my dad's Fireblade, which runs a smaller battery, yet his battery started mine no problem.
OK Yaya, so your bike starts OK with a known good battery? Can-bus is a type of electronic communication system. If your bike starts OK with a good battery, replace the old battery and ride your bike - a lot !!!
Agree, I had a duff battery on my 04 Bonnie and it would not start. As it was only 9 months old I kept trying to convince myself that it couldn't be the battery but it was. Replaced it and had no more problems.
That's the plan! New battery about to be ordered with the biggest CCA I can afford (210a). It's 17mm skinnier than my current one, but I've seen the wedges that held the old battery in place - I'm happy I can make that work. Will let you know what happens!
OOPS! I put the wrong part number for the blanking plug, it should be T2500396. Just ordered one from Edinburgh Triumph, £3.65, under a tenner inc.post & packing! Mines drained the battery for the last fcuking time!!!
Will remember this part for future reference - I'm happy it sounds easy enough if I want to get rid of the alarm in future.
Very tempting - the weather is pretty crap all weekend though.....might go for a little blast and then spend hours washing her!!
My 2009 SE Bonnie had a gizmo that meant headlamp was NOT ON when I started it. To activate headlamp when running simply flick dip switch. Old memories of 6V battery days when yer needed everything you could get to start a bike heh heh heh...Welcome yaya see yer met some of the nutters already
Thanks Wide, she does add a certain amount of class to the garage! Just to give an update on the battery, the new one has now been on the bike for over 2 weeks. I fully charged her when she arrive, then proceeded to disconnect the trickle charger, switch the alarm on and leave her.... She started the next day, and then three days after that, and then another 4 days after that..... At this point I took her out for a ride... Left her for another week.....started on the button yesterday. So, all in, the battery seems good, and I've now put it back on the Optimax just to be safe.
