765 2020 Street Triple R Missing Modes

Hey all! I know this has been discussed on the Triumph RAT Forum; I am also posting it here to increase visibility. Maybe someone at Triumph will read this.

The issue is the missing SPORT and RIDER Modes as well as the missing auto cancelling indicators. These features are well documented on both Triumph website and within the owner's guide. My bike was not delivered these features and I know others on here have bikes without these also.

Calls to Triumph USA (I'm in the USA, do not know if the problem exists worldwide) customer service confirm these features should be available. The representatives state the issue might be an incomplete PDI by the dealer. My dealer states the correct software has been downloaded into my bike and that all of his equipment is up to date.

I simply want what I paid for....not some "water downed" version of my bike. I also want an answer as to either why Triumph cannot make the advertised features available or why my dealer cannot access the proper software.

My hope is that we all can share information. Who all is having this problem and what is the status of your attempts to have it fixed?

 

On the USA website, it lists the three modes; RAIN, ROAD, and SPORT. In the owner's guide, it lists four modes: RAIN, ROAD, SPORT, and RIDER. The owner's guide is also where the auto cancelling indicators feature is listed.

 

The 2020 RS adds a TRACK mode that is unavailable to the other models.

The 2020 R has the analog tack and LCD screen found on the S model; here in the USA we do not get the S version..only the R and RS versions now. The R is also available as a LRH model.

The R version should have auto cancelling indicators (you can turn it "on" or "off"), but that option is completely missing from my bike.

The software I have basically provides the functional equivalent of the S model and not the R model I chose to purchase.

 

The owners manual covers all three versions of the bike: the S, the R, and the RS and outlines the specific differences between each where appropriate. For example, the RS has the TFT screen and the section that details the operation of this screen only applies to the RS. The R and S have the LCD screen and the owners manual details the operation of this as well. Any features and functions that only apply to the S or only the R are specifically called out.

On the USA website, the owners manual for the 2020 models is listed as Street Triple. The older models owner manual is listed as Street Triple - Previous.

 

Today, I dropped my R off at the dealer for its first service. I asked them to look into the two issue (modes and indicators) mentioning they could keep the bike as needed to (hopefully) resolve the issue. I will post what is communicated once I pick my bike up from the dealer.

I'm not certain the "...sorry, but we made a mistake when printing the manual.." explanation is sufficient. That is a pretty big mistake when you consider that manufacturers vet documents over and over gain before releasing them to the public. Also, this manual was made available before the bike was even released. Whoever was in charge of proof reading the manual ought to be sacked!

 

I just spoke with my dealer. Triumph USA is now stating the 2020 Street Triple R only has two riding modes (RAIN and ROAD) and the auto cancelling indicators is not an available feature either. Funny, the both the Triumph website and the official YouTube video created by Triumph Motorcycles show the Street Triple R as having at least the SPORT mode, if not the RIDER mode.

All I know is the owner's guide states the 2020 Street Triple R has auto cancelling indicators and demonstrates how to setup said feature in both written form and graphical form.

I would like a count as to how many of us are out there with 2020 Street Triple R's that do not have the advertised features. Also, does anyone know how to download a YouTube video? I need to save it before Triumph changes it.

 

Unfortunately, I don't know any more than what I knew the other day. My dealer indicated he sent communication to the Regional Sales Manager, but I have not heard a result as of yet.

I have all the documentation including copies of the owner's guide, the website, and a full copy of the official YouTube video Triumph produced. Everything Triumph has made public confirms the existence of these features.

The Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act does not allow Triumph to advertise a product as having certain features and then deliver a product without those features. Currently, they are in violation of that law. I think this is beyond any dispute. What is questionable is what exact harm has been caused by their failure to provide these features.

Next week I plan to attempt to escalate the matter through Triumph USA customer service. Hopefully, that will provide substantive answers. Ultimately, I simply want to know definitively what Triumph's plans are as to how they will rectify the situation.

I'm not looking forward to potentially having to litigate the matter, but I am keeping my options open as well as my understanding of all available avenues to address this matter.
