Royal Enfield Classic 650??

My son recently bought a Interceptor. It rides nice but i prefer the riding position on my T100. Felt like I was perched on top of the Intie rather than sat on the bike. However Triumph could do with taking a few tips from RE.

 

Yep spot on. Just like Triumph have done with their modern classics..

 

There’s talk of a 650 Himalayan and 650 scrambler which I think would do well if under £6000.

 

Yep that had crossed my mind, still not sure what if any third bike I want to put in the garage ? The search goes on......

 

In early late February this year I had a conversation with the UK’s main distributor whether they had heard anything about a flat tracker/scrambler style Interceptor engined bike and as far as they knew no new models were imminent.
But who knows thing may have changed.

 

I am sure it was in mcn we’re I’d seen it but if you google it I am sure they’ll be something on it.

 

My buddy has one in that colour he bought it new in April ‘19, it’s very nice.

Then in August ‘19 he saw a picture of the new Bullet Trials 500 and immediately rang his dealer an ordered one for September ‘19 delivery to keep the Interceptor company.

He only has nine bikes on the road this year out of his collection of about 30 bikes.

 

I think there’s a lot of speculation, nothing for certain yet.

But I’m sure it will happen pretty soon, if there’s a market out there the Indian bosses will want a share.

I like the look of this design.

I was referring to the model that started the post as clunkers.
I think the inty is a good blend. A bike with similar stance to my bikes when I was a lad but with efi and abs. Both are excellent. Starting at any engine temp is no problem. My friend with a Bonnie SE. Has nothing but trouble with starting if it's just started to warm up.
I have made some modifications but I have 2 criteria. Do I want it and can I afford it. Need does not come into it! And indeed it needed non of them.

 

I was refering to the model in OP as looking like old clunkers.
The inty remind me of bikes when I was a lad, plus EFI and ABS both of which are excellent. Starting always on the button, much to the annoyance of my friend with a bonnie SE. He has all sorts of problems starting if the bike is just warming up.
I have done mods, but I have 2 criteria. Do I want it and can I afford it. Need don't come into it. And to be honest it didn't need it. It's a nice ride out the box!

 

He pushed pulled, no throttle little throttle.
I agree a little higher idle (choke ) and no throttle but still hard to start. Not the 1st time I have heard this.

 

Royal Enfield's star is certainly on the rise with these new bikes. If I hadn't got my Triumph, I'm pretty sure one of those RE 650 twins would have found its way into my garage by now.

 

I had a look round a royal Enfield 650 the other day and it was nice for the money but if I was after this style of bike with the intention of putting plenty of miles on it I’d buy a second hand triumph but better still you could buy a Kawasaki w800 which for me is the best regards finish as the paint is very nice and that bevel gear drive looks great,you could buy a nice one for £5600 and it’s made in Japan.
