Took the T160 out for what was intended to be just up the road just to make sure all was OK after the winter lay up and because it was so nice i decided it was fine to do a 10 mile circuit.....wrong just when i was planning to go a little further it stats missing and popping and farting but managed to limp it home i suspect either some crap in the fuel has blocked a main jet or its fluffed a plug....i hope.:)

Looked like a slightly oiled plug but at the same time the plug cap was a bit loose on the HT lead so could have been a combination of the two will give it another try tomorrow as i am too hot a knackered from working on the knives in my shed in full sun.

I always worry that its the 40 year old Lucas RITA system giving up.:(

As I've said on here a couple of times on different threads, my Trident 900 did almost exactly what yours just did after a winter lay up. Wasn't far from one Mr. Halfords' fine emporiums so I went there and bought some Redex, put some in the tank and spluttered off again. Within a couple of miles the spluttering stopped and the bike started running again as it should:). Sorted!:D
If only life was always that simple! SIGH!!!!:(

The plot thickens...went to start the T160 and on turning on the key there was no display from the volt meter so thinking its popped a fuse or i have left the ignition switch on i pull the battery box cover and check the fuses are fine and the battery has a full charge so next to check is the ignition switch and according to the meter there is no or very low voltage getting through so a quick switch rebuild and stabbing myself in the hand with a pair of pointy pliers i check the switch and it behaves OK but on refitting its still the same.

Next step is to make a jumper lead to eliminate the switch and there is still no light or ignition so now i am scratching my head ...wiring does not normally faze me but this is driving me nuts.

Well I'm a plonker! charged the battery over night and charger seems to say its OK but on checking the voltage it says 12.89 v which in theory should be OK ....but as i dont have an ammeter setting on my meter i didn't realize that its sadly lacking in that department obviously not even enough to light my LED tail light so just to be sure i dug out and old car battery and even though its also naf it lit the lights so new battery on order just got to hope that the charging system is OK but i am sure a saw the volt meter showing about 13.8 volts when i was riding so fingers firmly crossed.
