Hello folks, Like the title says, I've just signed up. I'm currently in the process of selling my KTM Supermoto, one of four SM's I've owned over the last few years and thought it was about time I ventured into big road bike territory. I've always loved the Speed triple so thought what better place to be to learn a bit more about them. The fact is I'm after a bit of knowledge and advice with regards specifications. It's an absolute minefield out there on the world wide web. Confusion has set in as I'm looking around and finding it hard to pinpoint what I think I'm after from my dream bike. Hopefully one of you lovely people can help me out...
Hi James, and welcome in Have a scan through this lot https://www.thetriumphforum.com/forums/speed-triple.5/
Thank you Helmut! I'll have a look now. Edit: I'm trawling through there now actually. I've already posted.
Thanks Dawsy, I also did the sport bike thing, albeit 600's and ended up moving over to Supermoto because of my fondness of torque. Bottom and mid range torque is what does it for me. I've got it into my head that I need TCS but I don't really know if I do. Never had it before. I guess I believe I need an idiot proof bike. Is your 14' unpredictable at all? Is there a potential to get it wrong and come unstuck more than any other bike? Spinning up in corners and the like?
OK, thanks for that. I was convinced I needed it but maybe not. Like you I'm no racer but we all like to get the hammer down once in a while. Maybe I can lower my expectations and not have to raid my savings quite so much! Food for thought...
Hi James and welcome to the forum The best way to find out is to test ride a selection. The 1200 twin is all torque. Best of luck on your purchase
Thanks Dartplayer, sound advice. That would be the wise thing to do. Since I'm re-adjusting my expectations slightly there's obviously a greater choice for me to look at. I might have to enquire about a couple of test rides.
