A discussion on risk, something anyone riding a bike ought to be able to relate to?

I am impressed with surety and suggests he goes to work immediately in a COVID infected care home, especially as he is young, fit and seemingly at minimal risk of little more than a sniffle.

his argument is why force anyone to do anything? your response is to force him to do something?

All he has actually said is that we should do what the Swedes have done, are the Swedes so evil that we couldn't consider that they got it right?

Am glad you've said this, it saves 7 minutes 45 seconds of my life :p:p not quite sure why he needs so long to say that though ;);)

considering the other side of the argument gets 24x7 coverage, 7m 45sec of alternative viewpoint is very notable.

That's a fair point, though I'm not forcing him to do it, it was merely a suggestion as he seems pretty comfortable that he is at minimal risk.

I wonder what would happen if all the schools opened and none of the teachers felt comfortable to go back to work. Perhaps the role of the teachers would be taken by people who didn't see COVID-19 as much of a risk.

As a parent I'd be far happier for my child to be looked after by someone that was concerned by the risks and was actively doing what they could to limit the spread, than someone that felt it would likely all be fine.

I've been back at work for 3 weeks now on a construction site and despite being in an at risk category am quite happy to do so. We have implemented schedule changes and changes to working practices that introduce social distancing and make hand washing and regular use of alcohol gel the norm.

I may be in a minority but taking measures to reduce the risk as we understand it feels like a better approach than simply saying go to work if you want to and don't if you don't.

I've no idea if it's perfect or not but I feel a lot more comfortable at work than I do going to the supermarket!

The risks of covid-19 are very real for all of us. Here is another reminder for us all. I lost my mum 3 weeks ago her funeral is tomorrow and yesterday my father-in-law was taken from the care home where he lived to hospital and passed away late last night. We should not underestimate the impacts of the decisions that are being made without understanding the true risk to us all.

Terrible that Steve, my thoughts and sympathies are with you marra,
Dont think anybody on here can seriously underestimate this bloody virus and its effects on all of us, we all know this is early days and at the moment tiny steps ahead for the lot of us just to see what going to happen, kinda cant spend your life locked down but best be sensible when your out there,:mask:
What I cant understand is the constant adverts and the bloody annoying appearances of so called celeb's all with there own messages, this shit is so sole destroying and not helping folk IMHO, kind of a water torture wish they would just stick to the important updates only and cut the rest of the crap out, its just rubbing salt into wounds and I believe not helping folk relax and deal with the current situation.:mad:
