    Hi All,

Does anyone know if I can use the ECU from a 2013 675 Triple-R on the older 2010 engine?
I know there are are changes to some internals (cams) but will this still be OK?

    Cheers

I would be cautious as if there are definite changes to the engine then the map will be different...how much i cant say it could work but its a risk without seeing the map comparison.

At present the motor will start from cold with no trouble but will not hold idle.
Once the motor has warmed up, it will not restart at all.

This was leading to look at the temp sensor but the manual is showing both model temp sensors to be the same resistance.
I am keeping my fingers crossed to find that someone has had either success or failure in trying the same thing before.

Hot start problems are often down to the ECU temp sensor,
In theory if both ECUs have the same sensors and there have not been any more added on the later version they could be swap-able but as i said if there are changes like different cams or cam timing or ignition timing or fueling then the maps are very likely to be quite different between the two.

Thanks for your thoughts on this.
Would you know if maps are interchangeable with available software?
(from a quick search ECUtune does not support this ECM)

If the same ECU and you can get software then the map should be able to be rewritten/swapped but sorry i cant advise for definite as this model is unknown to me I just understand ECUs and mapping.

Here's a suggestion that might help if your bike is fitted with an IACV - a solenoid driven valve attached to the air box.

Bad or no tickover is often caused by problems in this area, so here are a few things to check :

    1. This device has a number of vacuum pipes attached to it, if any of these isn't 100% sealed it will cause your problems. The solution is to replace all pipes. I bought a mtr of silicone vacuum pipe of the correct internal diameter and cut it into 4 short pipes - never had a problem afterwards;

    2. Another issue with this valve it can get dirty and not function correctly - clean with aerosol brake cleaner.

    Cheers and good luck

    Dave

Good point! also IACV is related to TPS sensor voltage/resistance and if its been disconnected or incorrect will also cause hard start/bad running/hesitation so worth checking along with sensor/engine earth points for corrosion etc.

The manual I have does not give any resistance value for the TPS.
Does anyone have any figures I can use as a reference?

    Cheers
