Thanks for the add and look forward to contributing to this fine Forum! Its over 46 yrs now since I swung my leg over my first motorcycle which was a Yamaha 80 YG1F.....swiftly followed by a REAL motorcycle in the form of a black Triumph TR25W of 250cc......after numerous other bikes it was some 43 yrs later that I bought my 2nd Triumph, a new 2016 Street Triple 'R'.....lovely, light but unable to really do it justice on the slippery asphalt here in Greece....so it was sold...another 2 bikes later and looking at a nice 2018 Bonneville Street Twin in Matt Black. Nice and torquey, low seat height to suit this vertically challenged mature rider and with that eternal Triumph character !
Thanks Chiari......yep, it's a lovely country and the folk are great. They/we are bearing up but going to miss visitors like you. Greeks are being very cautious so we don't know when flights will resume especially from the UK. Twice would be better for sure .....'siga siga' as they say here.....slowly, slowly....
Never mind flying... I am thinking of driving to Crete. We’ll drive and ferry via Venice and across to Piraeus. Then another ferry to Crete. Have been 17 times in the last 14 years. Just love it out there. Where abouts are you from in Greece Maniot? Oh, And welcome to the forum . It’s informative and fun here !
Welcome to the best Triumph club around Maniot. I've been to Greece dozens of times, beautiful country, lovely people. but I've never been to Crete.
Maniot64. Welcome to the family. Well you sure have a rave machine now. You will love it a real flyer. Thanks for sharing the picture and enjoy the asylum here with the rest of the inmates. Regards & Ride Safe Joe.
Greetings from Iowa, USA. Not so sunny here, but the spring rains are what feeds us in the fall. Glad you joined.
I've driven here a number of times via Venice to Patras down into the Peloponnese where I have lived and worked for over 10 years now. Rather than go all the way to Piraeus its also possible to drive/ride down from Patras or Igoumenitsa to Kalamata where during the summer season there is a weekly car ferry across to Kastelli in North Western Crete. If you get the shorter Venice to Igoumenitsa crossing you get the opportunity to stop off in the historic town of Messolonghi where Lord Byron met his untimely end then cross the fantastic Rion-Antirrion suspension bridge across the Corinth Strait into the Peloponnese at Patras. Its a worthwhile route!
That sounds like a great route. The trip will give us the chance to see places we have never been to and Visit the places that we have flown over en-route to Crete. All whilst self isolating ..! Thanks for the tip !
