Hello 1200 scrambler owners,Seriously thinking of getting one of these,i think it will be the xc not xe as i want an absolute seat height of 850 so the xc at 840 is the one,i have no experience of the 1200 engine, only a 2 min ride on my mates 1200 bonnie, hoping it's more torquey than that so would like some thoughts on how they ride please, always had triumph triples 800,1050 so looking forward to owner experiences of the big twin, mainly is it very vibey through the pegs as being a diabetic your feet are more delicate, thanks in advance.

Gazwhitespeed, I recently bought the XE (same engine as the XC) and am type 2 diabetic. I put just over 200 miles on my bike yesterday which was all open interstate miles going 60 - 80 mph. At no point did I feel any tingling or tenderness in my feet after my necessary outing. If anything I feel I would be even more sensitive than normal as I had two screws put in my right foot 8 weeks ago to correct a stress fracture. I have't put any weight on my foot for almost the entire 8 weeks and other than a little bit of ache around the surgical site I had no issues. There was some vibration at the upper limits of my mph range but I felt that more in the handle bars than anywhere else. Hopefully you can throw your leg over an XC and give it a test ride as we're all built a little different.

I’ve got a 1200 Xe which has only done 500 miles so it’s not been over 5000 rpm but even so it can still make rapid progress as it pulls well and can do 80 mph at 5000 rpm,I Test rode a 1200 Xe and I gave it some stick to see how it went, I would say the 1200 is all about low to medium power as I found that towards the end of the range not a lot happens, compared to my street triple RS 765 it’s a non starter power wise as It’s missing the exciting power rush towards the end of the power range but saying that it’s not ment to go like a rocket it’s a 1200 twin, I’ve rode a 800 tiger and the engine I found a bit boring compared to the 675/765 triples ,I would say the 1200 is more characterful than the 800 triple,I like my 1200 it’s very comfortable and is doing 60 plus mpg when not going over 5000 rpm, it’s well balanced it doesn’t feel top heavy like tigers do it’s a nice bike, get a test ride, if your buying your bike out right there’s some good deals to be had, I paid £12399 for my Xe with £2400 worth of extras, I could of had a Xe with no extras for £11.500, some dealers won’t reduce there price so don’t buy from them.

I don't really notice excessive vibes, but my other bikes are an MX bike a dual sport thumper, so by comparison the triumph 1200 is butter smooth. That said, if you're used to triples it might be vibey to you. My recommendation is to get a test ride and see what you think because anything we share with you over the Internet is just our opinion, and your reality may be different.

I have a new XC Showcase, as I'm a short arse also the low seat. Not noticed any vibes, plenty of smiles but no vibes, the 1200 can be a bit lumpy at the low end with the occasional stall when decelerating to a near or actual stop. Some have fitted a booster plug to overcome this. It does get warm, decat is a big help, I'm waiting for my decat pipe. Coming from a Street Twin (wonderful bike) the extra power is noticeable as is the upright riding position which I was after. Zard do a low exhaust which is super funky.

If you have access to Facebook there are three worthwhile Scrambler specific groups.

I've tried Road, Rain and Sport, more lumpy in sport than other two, probably to be expected, done a few ECU resets and seems to have settled down a tad but still under 30 mph unless I change down to second it gets a bit lumpy. I only have the 900cc Street Twin to compare it to which was super smooth, you could pull away in 5th from 30 and it rarely complained, not that I make a habit of riding in the wrong gear but filtering round town was way easier on the 900

I was just going to say sport is a bit lumpy for knocking about and road is better but you’ve sorted it.
