New Harley Big Twin - Aimed At Triumph?

Some can be quite pleasant to bimble along on....but not as good as a real motorcycle in my op.
On one memorable occasion I was bimbling as above on my Heritage Softail ( having previously and judiciously removed the ridiculous tassels and studs on the leatherwork) when, imagine my surprise, the oil pump,er, fell off.

 

They [Harley] keep trying, and trying to make something that will appeal to the rest of the motorcycle riding public. The mistake they continue to make, over and over is installing that RIDICULOUS V-twin. Make SOMETHING ELSE ! ...J.D.

 

Over here, if you have a Harley the rest of the motorcycling community.are just laughing at you for the most part. Around here the people that ride them INSIST on having the biggest, and LOUDEST one they can buy. It has been that way for years. If you gave me one of those things, I think I would cut it up for scrap. I certainly would be embarrassed to ride it. All the neighborhood hate those guys. They give motorcycles a bad name. ..J.D.

And if your HD won't run at the start of a group ride, you get to drive the sag wagon. It's a truck with a trailer used to pick up the dead bikes along the route

 

When stateside and hiring bikes I preferred the engine in the Victory over a HD shame polaris put them to the wall, did not always like the style but I thought the motor was much better

 

That red harley reminds me of a fat grandma in a red dress and too much bling. Harleys have always had that effect on me. Thier engine sounds like an elephant with gas. ...J.D.

 

Truth! Although my brother had (gave it to his son) an old Sporty that has been bullet proof. I've ridden it and it was fun for a short time, but really nothing special like the feeling I got when I rode a Bonnie for the first time just a few days ago. Man, what a feeling of riding something that seems to breathe and have a heartbeat. It reminds me of why I started riding in the first place about 47 years ago!

 

I have owned an America [just the old carburetted 790] for a number of years now. In my mind I compare it to the baby Sportster [883]. Even that early version of the America puts the H-D to shame. …J.D.
