What Have I Done (valve Clearances)

    **Problem Fixed**
    Dear all,

    Got back under the valve cover over Easter. This time I removed the valve cover gasket, as I was replacing this. When I looked at the cam timing marks, what had looked OK with the gasket in place, suddenly looked like the obvious cause of my running issues.

    In short, I had cocked up the valve timing by a tooth due to assuming i could do it with the the valve cover on.

    The bike is now back to being the Torquey beast it used to be - praise the Lord!

    The moral of this story is take the bloody valve cover gasket off when timing your cams!

    At least you have got the knowledge to be able to do them,wished i could then i would not have sold my triumph's,sold all 14 for the same reason,coming up to a valve clearance service the bike had to go.

    That's just when I buy them....speed triple l bought was like a new bike for only two thirds of list price .
    My advice is to learn to do it yourself, there is no magic in it and you will save a load of cash.
