Decided to remove the passenger frame from Tangerine Dream as it really does clean/open up the back end. Very pleased with the result

Well I’ve been missing riding the triumphs with this lovely weather but at least I can get out on a bike!
Roads are a lot quieter, obviously, which make the 20mph zones even more frustrating

 

koko, lovely storm mate. just sold mine regretfully (best bike i've ever owned) as my knees couldnt cope. i'm looking at getting a 955i sprint and build a CRK type cafe. i can adjust the bars and pegs to suit my gangly frame.

After a busy 18 months restoring and extending a 1930s bungalow for my daughter and her family, I thought I would have a "Me" year. So we planned 4 holidays. Tenerife cancelled a week ago, Ireland in May cancelled, Austria in June hanging in the balance, but likely to be cancelled, Ireland in September...possible?

Anyway, time on my hands now so I got into my garage and got the dust sheet off my 1980 Honda CX500 which I plan to make into a slimmer and lighter bike than it ever was. The front brakes were binding a little when it went onto the lift and on Thursday they were soild. So I removed and stripped the calipers. I ordered parts from Wemoto,. which arrived this morning. The caliper paintwork is poor, but they are both sound with no bad damage. New seals and dust covers and should be good as new. I'm only going to throw this thing toghether and ride it for a bit before a full strip down next Winter for paint work and any alterations.

 

Yesterday i removed the immensely heavy standard exhaust system on my new bike and put a decat system on,mated up the delkevic downpipes with my scorpion end can,now sounds like a proper bike but the weight saving is the best bit,it must be 30lbs lighter,feels like i'm pushing a 600 around the garage now.

 

nice CRK! not sure if i'll use the crk kit or just modify my own. still looking for the right bike to turn up. how would you rate the CRK against the vtr, grunt wise? i just loved the vtr's stomp when it came to overtake a bunch of cars

Anyway, added a couple more trinkets to Tangerine Dream, in the shape of a headlight grill and a set of neoprene fork covers (both from Unit Garage)...

Well my storm is tuned,about 115bhp,at the rear wheel.So the crk ,has an old 885,sprint engine running about 100bhp.Not slow,and quite a lot lighter than the original donor bike,but the storm is the grunt master!

this was my bike before the previous owner dismantled it into many parts. still trying to upload pics from my phone but i'm non techno

anyway, all i've done today is sort out what parts are needed to complete the white/blue one as i had a break in a while ago and lost a lot of parts. the red one is in the process of having cbr600 front and rear end grafted on, so at least it will handle and stop better than the standard bike. the frame is untouched so it could be returned to standard in about a week

 

That's going to be a worthwhile project
