Had to stop reading I'm afraid Sandi Got really annoyed with the unnecessary overuse and possibly misuse of the word WHEREAS
Some good news, Coronavirus: Filming of EastEnders suspended until further notice Only two EastEnders episodes are to be shown each week as several TV shows take measures to combat the spread of COVID-19. https://news.sky.com/story/coronavirus-filming-of-eastenders-suspended-until-further-notice-11959542
I really wish people in the UK would take this situation seriously. There is plenty of reports like this from people in Italy, Spain and other countries. I honestly do not understand what makes people here think it will be any different in the UK, especially following the same hesitant action and mistakes everyone else did in the countries around us and now paying the price for it. I'm all up for jokes and stuff and keeping the strong spirit, but I look around every morning on how people can't be bothered even with the most basic precautions, how they look at me wearing a mask (to protect THEM, not myself, just in case) and I'm really worried this will end in tears...
Not sure I get it. If I have no symptoms but am a carrier (perfectly possible), by wearing a mask, I'm, to a certain extend, trying to limit the chance of me passing it onto someone else, ie continue to spread this further, making the situation worse, as well as with a decent PPF3 or above mask, again to a certain extend, protecting myself. Long way from perfect or 100% effective, sure, but better than nothing. I saw people yesterday at the butchers, licking their fingers while counting money, talking to each other from half a meter, laughing, shaking hands. Yeah, good luck with that.. Not eating tuna is actually saving not just the dolphins. We have tuna once a month as a treat, always trying to buy responsible pole and line caught, but in reality, we should not eat it at all and reduced other sea food to a minimum as well, given there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish in about a decade. With the ever growing population, the nature simply can not cope, and we know it. Look at what happened to the tuna industry, herrings, sardines. Large trawlers should have been banned ages ago..
I really like British humor, in fact I think it is right up there with the Spitfire, Mini and The Triumph, but everything has it's time and place. Over here on the forum it's all good fun, we just need people to step up now in the real life out there, that's all..
Czech republic and 16 years over here, so in many ways "infected with British-ness.(see what I did there) It may not sound like it very often but I'm also an optimist and I use to have really good antibodies against humans stupidity, but there is obviously a new strain out there, so I'm struggling a bit (oh I'm on the roll!) I agree we need to stay positive and lighten the mood as much as it is reasonable to help people to get over the stress of what is happening. But we can be all funny and responsible at the same time.
https://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-51870325 One good thing come out of this, that Eurovision song contest shite has been cancelled, I fooking loath that crap the wife being European usually watches it.
@PeteZ Sorry mate but masks are necessary and can add to the spread https://www.iflscience.com/health-and-medicine/do-face-masks-prevent-coronavirus/
I think in my defence it needs to be repeated that it is not me I'm worried about, it is you lot, ancient and fragile bunch of hairy (and some smooth apparently) ass bikers..
As I said in the comment, they will Not protect you or others 100% The entire Czech Republic is now in lockdown and you are not allowed to go out without one. The main reasons they are not compulsory is panic they could potentially cause, not enough masks for everybody and people relying solely on them to save them from everything when havong no idea how to maintain them or use them them correctly. They are not the solution, but they do help. During human expiratory activities such as talking, laughing, coughing and sneezing, many droplets of saliva and other secretions are expelled from the respiratory tract (the mouth and nose). It is now known that respiratory infections can be spread by these droplets and their residues after evaporation (Garner 1996). Larger droplets may rapidly settle out of the air and thus contribute to disease transmission to individuals in close proximity; smaller droplets may remain suspended for a long time and contribute to disease transmission over larger distances. Their sizes predominately determine the times they can remain airborne and thus the possibility of spread of infectious diseases if these respiratory droplets contain infectious pathogens (Wells 1934; Wan & Chao 2007; Xie et al. 2007). Moreover, the size distribution of such droplets influences the type of microorganisms that may be carried as well as the strategies for controlling the infections. Previous studies of hospital ventilation and infection control reveal a need for a more accurate measurement of respiratory droplets (Li et al. 2005; Qian et al. 2006). In the literature, many researchers have investigated droplet generation during expiratory activities using different methods (Jennison 1942).
In fact even this article itself says - Even surgical masks can go some way in preventing individuals who do not yet know that they’re sick from spreading virus particles while in public spaces.
Am I missing something here? China since December has 82,000 cases of Covid19 and new daily incidences are in single figures, number of deaths 3,230 How do we get to 250.000 -400,000 deaths projected in UK????? Not trying to dismiss the severity of this in any way but there seems to be a disconnect between the data modelling and the real world
