took delivery of my bike this week and although it was arranged that the rear swing arm bushes be overhauled/ lubricated due to the issues with them. On inspection I can see grease on the outer nuts on the frame where the arm bolts in, the slotted nuts, but nothing anywhere else and much the same on all the other linkages like somebody had smeared grease where I would see it obviously when looking, but underneath and around all the components they are filthy with caked on road dirt and clearly not been taken off. If they had been taken off and clearly they haven't any sane mechanic would have taken them to a paraffin bath and cleaned all the crap off them before assembly.

my questions are these if anybody can help, can you lub these components by merely removing the nuts and washers on the frame, and in terms of the links underneath can these be lubed by just knocking out the bolts. I would have thought it was a wheel off swing arm onto bench after a good pressure wash. but the wheel has not been off either.

Any pictures or tutorials on what goes on here would help.

Whilst having a good look at the wiring at the right side of the head for trapped wires as mentioned on here I found that the clutch cable has been fouling on the bracket beside the radiator and stripped and folded the outer sheath so badly that it fouls the steering lock to lock, also being worn right down to the metal its letting all the shit in. Looks like there is something missing to guide it or perhaps the brackets been taken off for wiring issues but there is a bracket further up holding the wiring.

New to this bike so not up to speed yet but I think I'm off to a bad start, so cold and horrible cant get out to make sure its ok either snow and shit and wind and the three month warranty is worthless if you cant ride it ffs.

    Help!!!

Sorry to hear of your woes david, if it's got the warranty make it known to the garage that you suspect there are issues in writing, so there is a record of your complaint and the date and tell em up front you suspect the work hasn't been carried out completely. Hopefully someone will have some know how on the swing arm
    Good luck

I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for,it's off an earlier model but the principal is the same.

If you want to remove the whole swinging arm then a quick search will probably find the info.
Triumph are notorious for lack of grease. If you've paid a dealer to do it and he hasn't than I'd be asking for a re fund.

Not sure about the clutch cable as mine's a 12.
Eyore has just done her 09 so probably be of more help.

Thanks for that guys its not been done properly so I stuck it in writing to them, service books stamped by them as well but cant see any signs of tank being off or cam cover off and at my mileage its due a major. And ffs went to start it today and its stone dead fokin three days. Its got a motobatt mbtx12u fitted but it looks like its three years old going by the stamp. How long do these batteries last and are the speeds bad for drawing down the batt mine has the datatag alarm fitted.

Re the battery, I would say that all bikes, particularly bikes with alarms, should be on battery tenders when not in use. I never have any battery trouble when I use mine. The latest one I bought was from Aldi, cost about £13 and was posted over to me by a good pal.

My swing arm had bearings behind bearings, not to bad a job, I needed special tool to undo lock nut and spindle nut, also u, need to be inside I say some where you can leave it and come back again.
clutch cable could be held by something as simple as a clip that goes around fork to guide, or a loop that bolts to frame, my best thoughts on this is a ,Haynes manual ,or see if u can down load a workshop manual,if u dont have some -where to do the work then go back to the dealers. Is this the same one u wrote about a couble of weeks ago? I remember some one saying they were getting the swing arm lubed .

yes I was on holiday and requested that the dealer re-grease the rear swing arm and referred to the problems with this item, I never gave them a item by item detail of what to do because its a fairly big strip and most components are coming off so common sense meant that all the links would get lubed, but if they had doubts a call to triumph would clarify this I thought. Before anybody attempts this however they would wash away all the crud but its a half arse attempt and at the best they knocked the bolts back a bit and smeared some grease about nothing came off but with all that crap still on they are probably worse now, and the swing arm has to come off since there is an insert in the needle roller side.

Got the bike on charge, managed to get it started though and its charging, will leave it until tomorrow and see if it charges ok then leave it to see if it holds charge. I need it to hold charge for a few days if I am away on tour parked up.
