    He’s only 41 FFS!
I think he’s been doing a pretty good job considering he’s had a below par bike for the past couple of years.
His best days may be behind him but he’s still one of the fastest guys in the world and he loves what he does, plus he’s a fantastic ambassador for the sport.
I for one will be sorry to see him go when he decides to retire, though I suspect he’ll still be around the paddock for a long time to come.

He is a whipper snapper at 41 mate! But he is racing with the very best in the world, there comes a point when you have to accept you can't compete, would hate to see the great man dropping further down the grid or worse get seriously injured.

I didn't start racing until I was 57, will be 59 this year and still want to race, but there is a gulf in difference between clubman racing & Moto GP!!!

I'm sure having Quateraro replacing him at Yamaha makes him feel like he's too old!! He's still got a lot to give but should retire soon before he fizzles out completely, that would be sad. He should set up his own team.

I think your appetite for risk diminishes with age and markedly past 35. Rossi knows his bike has recently been uncompetitive on most circuits. Until he gets a more competitive machine why risk more?

Meanwhile he must be reaching the physical limits required.

I too would like 10% of his skill level, that would make me 100% better than I am now!

I think Yamaha have offered him a bike for next year as a thank-you for the glory he brought them, he loves racing that much is clear, but I feel concern that keeping going at this level may not be the best thing for him, but if he keeps doing it I wish him all the best .

As the old saying says - Youth & talent are no match for age & cunning! ..... if only that were true in racing! :p

In my mind he is still one of the best and on a competitive bike he could still win races, so for me keep on racing Vallentino :):)
